The school has applied the Government's principles of keeping groupsseparate (bubbles), keeping bubble sizes as small as is reasonablypracticable and maintaining social distancing based on the age and ability ofthe pupils and the feasibility of measures when offering a broad curriculum.Pupils have been placed in 'class bubbles' and interaction between otherclasses minimised as far as is reasonably practicable.Pupil numbers will be carefully managed to ensure the safety of all as far aspossible at all times. Staff working with pupils they are not familiar with mustread the pupils yellow file plus any related guidance such as their Care orBehaviour Plan. If in doubt please seek further advice from the AssistantHeadteacher in the first instance.The majority of classrooms will be in use and classes will operate in ‘socialbubbles’ consisting of 5 groups EYFS, Primary, KS3, KS4 and AP.Each social bubble will be allocated a toilet area. This includes staff.Staff will also have assigned areas for break and lunch. Pupils will havelunch, provided by school caterers (see LA kitchen RA), in their class base (ortheir own packed lunch).As far as possible pupils will remain in their usual class base with their usualstaff but there may be instances when this is not viable.We will endeavour to meet pupils EHCP outcomes with as safe as possiblestaff to student ratio at all times. Staffing levels are reviewed in line withcurrent DfE guidance and where necessary advice is taken from LCCSchools Advisory Service.A recovery curriculum called the Rainbow Curriculum will be in place from thepoint of opening and for the foreseeable future.

This curriculum is heavily focussed on supporting and rebuilding friendshipsand social engagement addressing and equipping the pupils to respond toissues from COVID-19 to improve both their physical and mental wellbeing.We will draw on external support where needed.Where space allows, pupils who are old enough are supported to maintain adistance from each other and are encouraged not to touch staff and theirpeers where possible.A clear behaviour policy will be in place including the restrictions onmovement around the school and hygiene rules. There will be clearexpectations with set sanctions and a reward system.There will be set sanctions for poor behaviour and deliberately breaking therules.There will be no after school clubs in operation.There will be no access to swimming lessons until the government guidanceallowsAssemblies will be virtual using Zoom.The school minibuses will be used in line with the social distancing riskassessment specifically written for each bus.Cooking facilities for pupils will not be in use.You are more at risk if singing, chanting; playing wind or brass instruments,shouting, even at a distance takes place. These should were possible takeplace outside or with no more than 15 pupils positioned back to back.We must avoid sharing instruments.There will be no choirs or ensembles.

If the absence is likely to be long term thenarrangements for the bubble will be reviewed.Current risk assessments are referenced for pupil activities and visits thatrequire them. Where necessary these have been updated to reflect any newrisks and control measures due to COVID-19.A dynamic risk assessment is completed to consider the impact on safetywhere there are reduced staffing levels and to clarify what, if any, changes toexisting control measures are required. The outcome from this exercise willidentify whether an activity or task can be carried out safely or if an alternativeis required.Lone working will be monitored by a nominated employee on site e.g. anybuilding maintenance by the Site Manager, will be noted on the whiteboardalong with their whereabouts, a check-out and expected check-in time.The Headteacher/Chair of Governors, or SLT, will keep in regular contact withemployees to monitor the working arrangements and provide support andadvice where necessary.

Spread of COVID-19during transport to andfrom school

Pupils Potential spread ofinfectious diseasePupils stranded ormissing

Lancashire County Council Transport has measures in place to minimise riskof infection for pupils that are transported to school and their staff (see LAtransport RAs). This includes minimal numbers on each bus to support socialdistancing as far as possible.Transport should align as far as possible with the approach adopted by oursetting. How pupils are grouped should reflect the bubbles, hand sanitiserupon boarding/disembarking.DFE will provide new guidance to the LEA based on this framework.

Waste cleaning materials are disposed of in the usual way unless it isconfirmed or suspected that they are contaminated as a result of a member ofstaff of pupil displaying symptoms.COSHH risk assessments are in place and followed for cleaning products andhave been shared with staff as necessary.Staff have been instructed to store personal items and clothing in areas notwidely accessible during the working day e.g. in staffrooms.To facilitate social distancing and to limit the amount of touchable surfaces,unnecessary items have been removed from classrooms and other learningenvironments and placed in storage where they do not pose increased tripsor fire risks.Soft furnishings, soft toys and toys that are hard to clean (such as those withintricate parts) have been removed and placed in storage;

(Some still needs to remain due to the nature of the children, blue chairsused for RPI, some tactile resources the children need – goodhousekeeping will be observed with these items).

Stationery and other equipment is not shared where possible by either staff orpupils; (trays and resources compiled).Shared work areas are avoided wherever possible. If a pupil displays symptoms they will not be permitted to remain in school.Their parent/carer etc will be required to take them home. Where this is notimmediately possible, the pupil will be placed in a separate room until theycan be collected, whilst being mindful of individual pupils' needs.Ideally, a window will be opened in the room for increased ventilation.If it is not possible to isolate the pupil e.g. if it causes them undue distress orthey need to remain under adult observation, an assessment will be carriedout to see whether it is sufficient to move them to an area which is at least 2metres away from others.If an individual (adult or child) showing COVID-19 symptoms, needs to usethe bathroom while waiting to go home, they will use a separate bathroom ifpossible. The bathroom will then be cleaned and disinfected before beingused by anyone else.Staff and parents have been instructed to inform school immediately of theresults of a test so that an assessment can be made of the potential impacton school.

Facemasks serve to protect others if you are displayingsymptoms. Advice indicates that they are not effective in stoppingtransmission to the wearer.We are aware that some pupils display behaviour that may bring others in tocontact with bodily fluids. Due to the reactive nature of most behaviourmanagement it will not be possible for staff to adorn PPE before dealing withbehaviour. In many cases the PPE may actually present an additional risk if itis pulled or otherwise by a pupil requiring behaviour management. Pupilslikely to require behaviour management will be risk assessed to ensure weprovide, as far as possible, appropriate protection for staff where deemednecessary.ALL PPE is single use and is classed as clinical waste. PPE used in bubblesmust be placed in a bin liner tied and then placed in a clinical waste yellowbag. PPE used in bathroom areas must be placed straight in to yellow bags.
