• The sentence is one of the basic vehicles
of expression used in all types of writing. To
read efficiently you must read sentences
accurately and efficiently. To read sentences
efficiently, you must be able to identify the
important ideas and sort out the less important
information. Besides, you must see how the
parts of a sentence are related.

• I. Identifying the core parts
• Grammatically speaking, the core parts are the
subject and the predicate of the sentence.
“What happens” or “Who does what”
