u ANDREA BOCELLI, LE BARCHE, IL MARE, LA NATURA SONO GLI ELEMENTI DI UNA SIN-TESI PERFETTA CHE SI INTEGRANO CON AR-MONIA TRA LORO. Il suo è un rapporto profon-dissimo con questi particolari, basti pensare al pezzo musicale Il Mare Calmo Della Sera che rappresenta l’inizio della sua carriera con cui vin-cerà il Festival di Sanremo del 1994. La storia recente di Bocelli la conosciamo è fatta di suc-cessi planetari e non ci sorprende sapere che la barca è per lui uno strumento molto importante che gli permette di trovare una condizione idea-le per rigenerarsi. Il maestro ha un rapporto col silenzio “necessario e duraturo” perché gli svela cose importanti: «Induce alla riflessione, fa me-ditare sul tempo e le stagioni della vita. Per que-sto lo prediligono i monaci e gli asceti». La barca è certamente utile per trovare questa condizione. Bocelli, ha già posseduto in passato diverse imbarcazioni, afferma che il Gamma 20 è di gran lunga il suo preferito: «Amo il modo in cui lo spazio è stato organizzato per far si che la nostra grande famiglia allargata possa stare insieme, godendo della vicinanza e dell’intimità, ma allo stesso tempo nel rispetto della privacy di tutti. Uno yacht deve soddisfare precise esigen-ze ed essere in grado di farci sentire a nostro agio; deve rispettare ed esprimere sia architet-tonicamente sia tecnicamente le stesse priorità

Avevo bisogno di una barca solida, sicura e confortevole, e sono molto contento della mia scelta di un Gamma 20».Maestro cos’è il fascino degli yacht per lei?L’amore per le barche di ogni genere e dimen-sione si lega strettamente a quello che nutro da sempre per il mare. Il mare è luogo di libertà, è custode di meraviglie e misteri che appassio-nano l’uomo e lo spingono ad osare ed a vivere esperienze indimenticabili.Come è iniziata la passione per le barche?Mio padre ha sempre avuto un gommone di cin-que o sei metri. Credo che la mia grande pas-sione per le barche affondi le proprie radici in quei giorni di vacanza, nei quali io con mio pa-dre e mio fratello uscivamo in mare per brevi e prudentissime escursioni. Al mattino, io e Alber-to, mio fratello, ci caricavamo a spalle il pesan-te motore che il babbo metteva sempre al sicuro in cabina alla sera, prima di lasciare la spiaggia, e di là a poco eravamo oltre le boe, dove final-mente si poteva avviare il motore ed iniziare la nostra gita.Perché ha chiamato l’ultima barca Libertas?La pace e la libertà sono due tra i valori più im-portanti per me. Ho avuto una imbarcazione cui

ho messo il nome di Pax, ora ho scelto Liber-tas, per ricordare a me stesso e a tutti coloro che avranno l’occasione di navigare su questa imbarcazione l’importanza primaria della libertà.Quanto è stato coinvolto nel design della barca e quali sono stati gli aspetti più impor-tanti che ha commissionato a Vripack?Quando mi innamoro di una barca, vuol dire che quel cantiere ha conquistato già la mia fiducia.Ci sono dettagli che suggerisco in base ad esi-genze specifiche della mia famiglia, ma in gene-rale lascio a chi da anni è impegnato nella co-struzione di barche, il compito di individuare le soluzioni più pratiche ed intelligenti.Quanto tempo passa a bordo in un anno? Il tempo che trascorro in barca dipende innanzi-tutto dai miei impegni di lavoro che per fortuna sono ancora moltissimi.In secondo luogo dipende anche dal tipo di bar-ca che ho: per qualche anno, ad esempio, ho avuto un gommone di una decina di metri, molto pratico e veloce, ma non particolarmente con-fortevole per un uso di tutte le ventiquattro ore.Con una imbarcazione come quella che ho adesso invece, il bello consiste proprio nel tra-sferirsi a bordo e trascorrervi in pace giorno e notte, magari senza mai mettere piede a terra.Che consiglio darebbe a chi intende compra-re uno yacht?Lo stesso che darei a chi decide di unirsi in ma-trimonio con qualcuno. È una scelta molto im-pegnativa che va fatta con ponderazione e dopo un accurato esame di coscienza sul reale attac-camento al mare.La sua musica ispira tante persone nel mon-do… Lei come è ispirato dal mare?Più che una musa ispiratrice, il mare è il luogo in

cui mi riposo, mi ricarico di quelle energie che sono fondamentali a chi voglia affrontare il pal-coscenico ed un pubblico sempre più esigente.Il suono è un aspetto importante della sua vita… Che enfasi trova nel moto silenzioso della barca o del sistema audio a bordo?Nel silenzio assoluto del mare, l’ascolto della musica è particolarmente suggestivo e ricco di emozioni. Ho spesso scelto il mare anche per lunghe sedute di studio, di opere lunghe e com-plesse. I risultati sono stati fantastici.In barca ha un pianoforte e tutta la strumen-tazione per registrare a bordo… Ho un piano elettrico, che possiede però una meccanica che è identica a quella di un piano-forte classico. Il vantaggio consiste nel fatto che essendo elettrico non si scorda e consente una regolazione del volume utile al rispetto delle esi-genze del resto della famiglia. Ci può raccontare le esperienze con le sue precedenti barche?Oh, sarebbe lungo e noioso! Dirò solo e molto brevemente, che il mare è uno di quei paradisi, nei quali è più facile comprendere, o consolidare l’idea che la vita è un dono straordinario di cui è sacrilego sprecare anche un solo attimo.Quale è stata l’esperienza più memorabile in mare?L’esperienza più bella in mare è stata certamen-te quella dell’estate scorsa: un viaggio che mi ha portato con tutta la famiglia fino a Valencia. Tante ore di mare, l’attraversamento del Golfo del Leone in piena notte, con un mare che potrei definire più che formato...Un viaggio in cui ho as-sociato la vacanza al lavoro e mi ha consentito di vivere la barca a pieno, come in una casa.Il Gamma 20 è stato costruito e progettato in Olanda con arredi e materiali per interni di pro-venienza italiana. «Anche se la soglia tradiziona-le per un superyacht parte dai 30mt di lunghez-za, – afferma Guido Bonandrini, Ceo di Gamma Yachts – il livello di personalizzazione possibile per l’armatore è molto più vicino a quello di un superyacht rispetto ad una qualsiasi altra im-barcazione in questo range di grandezza. Gli elementi che identificano ogni Gamma 20 sono la forma dello scafo e della sovrastruttura; qua-si tutti gli altri aspetti possono essere adattati ai gusti del cliente, proprio come ci si aspettereb-be da uno yacht di una taglia superiore».Per l’esterno di questo yacht, il Maestro Andrea Bocelli ha specificatamente richiesto di posi-zionare un tavolo ed un divano di fronte alla ti-moneria per offrire ai propri ospiti una vera e propria immersione nell’ambiente circostante, soprattutto in navigazione. Vi è anche un tram-polino realizzato su misura sul prolungamento del fly bridge per tuffarsi dal punto più alto dello yacht; mentre lo scafo è stato dipinto di un co-




lore blu elettrico metallizzato. Il deck è in teak, come da standard, e a poppa c’è una piattafor-ma idraulica opzionale che si abbassa in acqua.

For these reasons the monks and the ascetics favor it».Boats can certainly help you find this condition. Bocelli had already owned other boats In the past, but he states that the Gamma 20 is his fa-vorite one: «I love the way space has been ar-

ranged so that our large extended family can be together, enjoying closeness and intimacy, while at the same time respecting everybody’s privacy. A yacht must meet precise needs and be able to make us feel at ease; it must comply with and express both architecturally and technically the same priorities as those living on It. Coziness, warm materials, safety, low noise and comfort: these were my needs and they have been fully met. I needed a solid, safe and comfortable boat and I’m really happy to have chosen a Gamma 20».Maestro, what does the charm of a yacht mean for you?My love for all the types and sizes of boats is tightly tied to what I have always felt for the sea. The sea is a place of freedom, It is the guard-ian of wonders and mysteries that fascinate man and drive him to dare and live unforgettable ex-periences.How did your love for boats begin?My father always had a rib of five or six me-ters long. I believe that my great passion for boats comes from the holidays spent out-doors, when, togeth-er with my father and my brother, I went out on the sea for short and safe cruises. Every morn-ing, me and my brother Alber-to, carried the heavy engine on our shoulders which every evening before leaving the beach was stored by dad in the cab, and in a few minutes we were beyond the safety buoys, where we could start the engine and begin our trip.Why did you name your last boat Libertas?Peace and freedom are two of the most impor-tant values of mine. I had a boat named Pax, now I have chosen Libertas to remind me and all of those who will be onboard how much free-dom is important.How much have you been involved in the de-sign of the yacht and what are the most im-portant details you’ve asked Vripack for?When I fall in love with a boat, it means that the yard has already won my trust.There are details that I usually suggest, based on my family’s specific needs, but in general I leave the task of identifying the most practical and in-telligent solutions to those who, for many years, have been engaged in the construction of boats.How much time do you spend onboard a year?Time spent onboard depends firstly on my work

commitments, which luckily are still many. Sec-ondly, it also depends on the type of boat I own: for example for a few years I had a 10 meter long rib, very convenient and fast, but not particularly comfortable for all day use. Instead with a boat like the one I have now, the greatest thing Is mov-ing aboard and spending both day and night in peace, perhaps without even setting a foot ashore.Which kind of advice would you give to someone who wants to buy a yacht?The same as what I’d give to someone who wants to get married. It’s a very difficult choice which must be made thoughtfully and after a careful examination of one’s conscience about their real love for the sea.Your music inspires a lot of people all over the word… How have you been inspired by the sea?

More than a muse, the sea is the place where I can relax and I can re-

charge those energies which are essential for those who

have to deal with the stage and with an increasingly demanding and selective public.Sound is a very im-portant aspect of your life… What do you feel

in the silence of the boat’s motion or In the

sound system onboard?In the silence of the sea, to lis-

ten to music is particularly suggestive and full of emotion. I have often chosen the sea for long study sessions of very complex operas. The results have always been fantastic.Onboard you have a piano and all the record-ing equipment…Yes, I have an electric piano on board which has, however, a mechanism like the one of a classi-cal piano. The advantage consists in the fact that being electric it’s never out of tune and you can adjust the volume in compliance with the require-ments of the rest of the family.Could you tell us something about the experi-ence on your previous boats?Oh, it would be long and so boring! I’d just like to say, very briefly, that the sea is a paradise where it’s easier to understand or consolidate the Idea that life is an amazing gift and that it would be a sacrilege to waste even a single mo-ment.Could you tell us something about your best experience at sea?The most beautiful experience at sea was cer-tainly the one of last summer: a journey that took my whole family to Valencia.
