Our immensely popular picture book series

With Lieselotte, Alexander Steffensmeier has created a wonderful character with which children can identify. When normal everyday life takes place in the cowshed, children can giggle about small mishaps to their hearts’ content.

When Lieselotte loses that one package the farmer has impatiently been waiting for, she has a guilty conscience. Only the child looking at the picture book knows that the farmer has already found her pa-ckage while Lieselotte is still desperately looking for it.

A turbulent search adventure with lots of surprises, crazy chicken and a real happy ending.

Alexander Steffensmeier Lieselotte’s Search(978-3-7373-5005-1) Hardcover 32 pp., 23 × 30 cm Ages 4 +

The little troll lives in a dark forest at the sea. He sleeps in a comfortable cave underneath a fallen tree and he loves to hide. The story invites you again and again to look for and discover the troll in the colourful illustra-tions. An imaginative story which encourages you to join in and feel with the character.

Serafina almost forgot her birthday! Luckily Luzifer her tom-cat remembered it. But Serafina thinks nothing of his suggestions for a festive feast. For she may not work the magic for herself but only for the animals in the magic forest. Luzifer walks away feeling insulted – after several hours when he has not returned Serafina goes to look for him: to the mice, the beaver, the foxes and the bear. And each of them has a special wish that Serafina is only too happy to fulfil. But none of them has seen Luzifer – or have they after all?

It’s the same every evening. As soon as Mom turns out the lights it appears: the corner monster! That’s why Lucas can’t sleep and snuggles up to Mom and Dad in their bed. In the morning, Lucas is well rested and Mom and Dad are not. “It can’t go on like this,” Mom says. Lucas thinks a dog or a dragon may scare the corner monster away. “We won’t have them in the house,” Dad says. And then Lucas has a very good idea...

One night Lulu’s very first and most beautiful egg has just rolled away and disappeared – it can only have been stolen. Perhaps it was Vanessa, the conceited goat who would simply love to groom her beard with egg-yolk, or was it Tamara the cat who always plays Catch-the-mouse with eggs? The detectives Astor Chang, the mole, and Zippo, the cricket, have to look quite closely for there are enough suspects and no one admits being guilty …

Children do not like to leave their familiar environment, their much loved habits and most of all their friends in kindergarten. They are afraid of the new and unknown and look towards moving with mixed feelings. That’s why it is good when they experience that the new home does not feel bad after all.

Clara does not want to go away. She wants to stay in her old room where at night the moon looks so friendly into her window. But then everything has been packed up and Clara has to say good-bye. And when she looks out the window in her new room an old friend blinks at her. Now things are not that bad anymore. In a loving and sensitive way this story encou-rages all children who are afraid of changes.

Hiccups be gone – with royal fun! > Tips how to make hiccups go away > The first big picture book by Nina Dulleck > Cheeky fun with and for princesses

Hiccups can be really annoying, especially when it’s time to go to bed. No trick works to make them go away once and for all. And holding your breath and swallowing three times without water are really old-fashioned ideas.

It’s so much more fun to see what Princess Rosa Teeny-Weeny tries in order to make her hiccups go away. The cheerful and colourful illustrations show the little princess chuckling and hiccupping so happily that this picture book will make all children and their parents laugh out loud before going to bed.

The wonderfully bizarre cast of charac-ters from the Backwater of Good Hope comes back for a second round. Again, Kai Lüftner impresses with his boundless imagination and the affectionately (over)drawn inhabitants and newcomers at the small, no longer peaceful place.

Right after Kalle has found three new friends for life, one of them is already in danger. Little Theobald is kidnap-ped by Count Guile von Cruel and his bodyguards. Without any question, the friends have to rescue him! And without any doubt, they will manage to do so, especially with the help from an unex-pected source – and throw Count Guile von Cruel back down again to the place where he should have stayed after the end of the first book: down in the foggy depths of the Fulminantolaboratory.

Kai Lüftner, born 1975 in Berlin, studied social pedagogics, worked amongst other things as street worker, cabaret artist and solo entertainer, pizza delivery man, door man, copy writer for advertisements, song texts and on special contract, comedy au-thor, concert promoter, composer and musician, radio journalist and also in old people’s and children’s homes.

Today he earns his money as arranger of audio books and direc-tor, as copy writer for comedians and actors, as author of books for children and young adults and together with his wife he runs a café in Berlin.

The Liliane Susewind Series Lilli has a secret… She can talk to animals!

Children’s fiction Children’s fiction

Eva Schöffmann- Davidov born in 1973, already as a child drew everything that came in front of her brush. She attended the Freie Kunstwerk-statt in Munich befo-re studying graphic design in Augsburg.

Tanya Stewner was born 1974 in the Bergisches Land and started writing stories when she was only ten years old. Her se-ries of children’s books on Liliane Sus-ewind is hugely suc-cessful. The author lives with her family in Wuppertal.

Because of her secret gift, Lilli is very popular with all animals - but rather shy with other children. In this first volume in the series, Lilli moves with her family to a new town. Starting at a new school and finding new friends is not easy in the best of circumstances, but for Lilli, this task is doubly hard.

Anxious not to be seen as crazy, she tries to keep her gift as secret as possible. But how can she manage a school trip to the zoo without revealing the fact that she can talk to animals?

Political books and great adven-ture stories for children aged 10 + > Action-packed and humorous, yet with critical undertones > Highly praised by the press for its socio-critical aspects

> A lovely Christmas fun adventure > Funny, crazy, and realistic

The Fireland Gang, a group of children who rebel against the obscure doings of the Office, is back. Lila and her mother set out to search for Lila’s father in Italy where he has fled to be safe from the clutches of the Office. Lila’s friends are on the run, too: Under no circumstances do they want to be sent to one of the dubious children’s homes! When they realize what the Office is planning, they know they have to act jointly.

During the big showdown at the Italian coast the friends show what they can achieve when they act together.

After Lila’s mother does not return from work one evening, Lila is taken to a remote farm by her alleged aunt Bella. There she realizes that her mother never really told her the truth about how things are with the world. Why are so many children whisked off to children’s homes? How does “the other half” live? Searching for answers, Lila gets into the middle of Fireland, the slums out-side the city and finds shelter with a gang of kids who have not yet given in to the pressure of a repressive government.

Susanne Fischer tells of a society that is in danger of forgetting its social responsibility, of strong children, ignorant adults and of the courage to change things.

With a list of pros and cons, Piet and his friends “prove” that their old, grumpy neighbour is Santa Claus. However, as they have accidentally laid waste to his veranda, they most certainly won’t get any presents anymore. They have to appease Santa Claus!

All their plans go wrong, though, and they enjoy car-rying them out, too – although they are meant to be acts of penance. But finally they find out that it feels better to make other people happy than to think of what they wish for themselves.

A novel based on true events: In the middle of the 19th century poor peasants from Ticino have to send away their children to become chimney sweeps in the city of Milan. Here, they have to work in atrocious conditions and put their young lives at risk.A graphic novel, illustrated by Hannes Binder.

Set in a world that greatly resembles our own, this is the story of a little boy called Max. He lives with Alice and Forbes, his adoptive parents. Not even they can tell him where he came from and who he is.

One day a few years ago, he has just appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Two eerie strangers tell Max that his appea-rance seems to be connected to the ever-growing number of disappearing people – people vanishing from one moment to the next, without a trace.

Might Max be even responsible for the disappearance of his biological parents? The explanation for both mysteries lies deeply hidden in the “Beginning Woods”, a world that is connected to ours, like two sides of a coin are connected. There Max encounters magical beings, sinister secrets – and there he has to pass the most dreadful of all tests of courage. He has to walk through the dragon’s fire…

A dark, fairy-tale fantasy adventure with philosophical profundity.

Originally written in English! World rights available.

In the year 1910, the five siblings Florence, Herbert, Sophie, William and Diana arrive in Scotland to stay with their un-known grandfather. What will he be like? How will he welcome them? When they finally meet him, they are immediately enthusiastic. Old O’Brian is not only a cheerful chap but he fulfils them every wish. But is he really their grandfather?

On one of their expeditions through the old family castle, they encounter a dra-gon kept behind a mirror – and he tells them not to believe a word their so-called grandfather tells them. He himself, so he claims, is their grandfather, enchanted and kept a prisoner. But whom should the children believe?

A fairy-tale adventure for the entire family, told with affection and including everything that a child needs to be cap-tivated: mermaids, treasures of elves and an enchanted castle.

Ivo Pala, born in 1966, lives in Berlin, works as a screenwriter for films and television and has already published several novels. After his fantasy trilogy “Elbenthal”, he debuts as a children’s book author for FISCHER Sauerländer.

Against forgetting! > A very special book > Autobiographical story of two Jewish children sent to Sweden and safety in 1939 > With colourful woodcuts by Brazilian artist Tita do Rêgo Silva

The actress, columnist, court reporter and author Peggy Parnass tells the story of her childhood in this moving book: In 1939, she and her four-year-old brother were sent by her mother to Stockholm, which she considered a safe place for her two children. The children never saw their parents again. They were murdered by the Nazis in Treblinka.

The brightly colourful woodcuts by the Brazilian artist Tita do Rêgo Silva stand in contrast with the content and reinforce its intensity.

Welcome to Berlin: here 60 people com-pete for a room in a shared flat, you can dance the night away in the coolest clubs, and you encounter a camera crew behind every other corner.

This is where the story about Anouk is set: she has recently moved to the big city, and while settling down she falls head over heels in love with Joel. There’s just a tiny hick-up in this match: Joel is the boyfriend of Anouk’s best friend, and therefore, absolutely off limits. That’s all very well in theory, but what do you do when taking your hands off each other seems absolutely impossible, too…?

This highly entertaining novel for teenagers aged 14+ tells of love and lust, friendship, trust and betrayal. A must-read for every teenage girl!

Janne Palmer is a pseudonym for the young script writer and film maker Jeanette Wagner, who moved to Berlin from a small town, to enjoy the exciting life of a Berlin City Girl. She did not fall for her best friend’s boyfriend, but does enjoy emotional and existential comedies.

“While she was running down the stairs to the library, Furia could already smell the stories: the best smell in the world.”

Furia lives in a world of books. The country estate of her family is situated on top of an endless library. Eagerly, she is awaiting her soul book – to unleash the magic of words with its help. Then, however, her brother is kidnapped and Furia has to fight for his life.

Her path leads her to the city of the disappeared bookshops and to a forest in which trees grow from dead books. She meets Cat, who can “get anything for you”, and Finnian, the rebel. Together they go to war – against the rulers of bibliomancy and the de-writing of all books.

Kai Meyer, born in 1969, is regarded as one of the most impor-tant German fantasy authors. He has published more than 50 novels and his works have been translated into 30 languages. His stories have been adapted for film, comic and audio plays and have won prizes all over the world.
