LOCKED COIL TRACK ROPES

А locked coil roре is аhighly engineered productwhich is individuallydesigned and manufactuгedto meet the specificrequirements of eachinst-allation.

The majority of track ropeshave ап outer 'ауег of fulllocked wires which gives аconstruction offeringsuperior performance underconditions of high capacityand high tread pressures.

Such ropes аге constructedwith опе ог тоге layers ofinterlocking wires. Theshape, dimension andproperties of each wire агеindividually specified toachieve the requiredcharacteristics.

нoweve г,constructionsoffering а half locked outercover аге also availabIe,usually for smallerinstallations where wheelloadings аге low.

The above figures аге typical for а general range of product.Locked Coil Track Ropes аге specifically designed and

manufactured to suit individual installations.

Locked coil is theoptimum construction fortrack rope service. It offers:

а) А smooth peripherywhich keeps surfacewear to а minimum опboth the roре and vehiclewheels.

Ь) Compact steel areaallowing maximumstrength and minimumrope elongation.

с) Safety of operation.Should апу wire Ьесоmеdamaged ог broken, thenthe 'Iock' shape helps toretain the wire within theconstruction restricting itfrom looping out.

То ensuгe the optimumdesign to achieve the bestworking performance,BRIDON developed andemploys а sophisticatedcomputer rope designsystem. Linked with therespective development andproduction machinery, thissystem allows exactingquality assurance, toproduce BRIDON's highquality roре product range.

Опе of the most innovativeгоре impгovements hasЬееп the development ofDyform® strand.

This concept wasintгoduced and patented ЬуBRIDON тапу years agoand has Ьееп successfullydeveloped into гopes for аvariety of applications -haulage, mining, andparticularly high strengthсгапе гopes.

The Dyforming pгocess isachieved Ьу passing thefinished strand through аfixed die which compactsthe strand to achieve аreduction in diameter,

. resulting in additionalpertormance advantages.

DVFDRMHIGH PERFORMANCE ROPES

For aerial гopes, theimpгoved pгoperties аге:

а) greater surface/contactarea - reduced pressurebetween sheave andгоре liner

Ь) greater internal contactarea - reduced internalwire contact andimpгoved горе fatigue life

с) higher breaking load toweight ratio - size forsize оуег conventionalгоре

d) improved diameterstability - betterresistance to deformationunder radial pressure

е) increased modulus -reduced constructionalгоре stretch

f) Dyform® configuration -minimises oscillation andvibration - impгovementsоп some installations.

The аооуе benefits теап that Dyform® сап Ьеrecommended for aeriallift installations, рпгпагйу for thedetachabIe grip system&where diameter consistencyand retention аге а" important .

Most aerial haulage ropesаге pгoduced with а 3 ог 4strand fibre саге. Initially thematerials used were ofnatural fibres, but тогеrecently these have Ьеепsuperseded in most casesЬу the use of syntheticfibres.

The minimum length ofа long splice is generallyfixed Ьу national cabIewayregulations.

In conjunction with thesereguliltions, the minimumdimensions тог а long splice, recommended Ьу BRIDON,аге tabIed opposite.

оBRIDCJNLONG SPLICING OF HAULAGE ROPES

It should Ье rememberedwhen considering longersplice lengths, particularlywith the larger diameterropes, that this сап Ье timeconsuming and labourintensive because of thelength and weight of strandthat -hasto Ье removed andthen replaced through thewhole length of the splice.

When shortening the горе,the loop is formed in thisextended таггу агеа andthe strands then adjusted, three in each direction, sominimising the handledstrand length and weight.

BRIDON offers аcomprehensive installationand splicing service thгoughits Site Services department, from whom further detailsсап Ье obtained.

If this shortening method isto Ье employed, then it isessential that the extralength initially allowed at theтаггу агеа is тоге thansufficient to ensure that thefinal splice length complieswith local regulations.

BRIDON suggests thatthe initial splice length Ьеincreased to accommodatethe expected maximumamount of горе stretch. Thisadditionallength of гореshould Ье incorporated inthe таггу агеа of the initialsplice .
