AN Wireless Towers are fabricated to be high strength, high quality, and well designed pieces of infrastructure equipment, intended to offer many decades of service life. All models of AN Wireless Towers use a different stacking configuration with the twelve currently available tapered tower sections to build the custom tower structure desired. Tower sections are numbered from -1 thru 10, with section -1 being the widest base section available, to section 10 being the narrowest top section available. The stacking sequence of sections and the number of sections included as a tower package depends on the AN Wireless Tower model number chosen. AN Wireless Towers are designed and produced in accordance with National Standard ANSI/TIA-222-G. RF Communications Towers

AN Wireless LD,HD, and HHD Tower Assembly Instructions

Thank you for your purchase of an AN Wireless Self Supporting Communications Tower.

AN Wireless Towers are fabricated to be high strength, high quality, and well designed pieces of infrastructure equipment, intended to offer many decades of service life.

All models of AN Wireless Towers use a different stacking configuration with the twelve currently available tapered tower sections to build the custom tower structure desired. Tower sections are numbered from -1 thru 10, with section -1 being the widest base section available, to section 10 being the narrowest top section available. The stacking sequence of sections and the number of sections included as a tower package depends on the AN Wireless Tower model number chosen.

AN Wireless Towers are designed and produced in accordance with National Standard ANSI/TIA-222-G. Handling and installation of towers of this type shall be assigned to qualified and experienced professional level personnel. It is the full responsibility of the customer / installer to properly assemble and install our towers.

Bolt Installation and Assembly

ANW Tower bolts are in shear, so the concern is the bolts do not loosen over time.

The tower engineer has specified the joint type for the legs and splice plates as snug tightened.As such, the _” x 1-1/2” A325 galvanized bolt, washer and nut assembly are to be SNUG TIGHT.The definition of SNUG TIGHT per the Research Council on Structural Connections (December31, 2009) is

“Tightness condition attained by a few impacts of an impact wrench or by the full effort of a manwhen using an ordinary spud wrench to bring the layers of material into firm contact.”

Compacting the joint to the snug tight condition shall progress systematically from one end of thesplice plate to the other after all bolt assemblies have been hand tightened. Snug tight is thecondition that exists when all of the plies in the connection have been pulled into firm contact bythe bolts of the joint and all of the bolts in the joint have been tightened sufficiently to prevent theremoval of the nut without the use of a wrench.

The 3/8” x 1” galvanized brace bolts may be assembled using the same SNUG TIGHT method.

It is recommended that care be taken not to over-tighten any of the bolts such that bolt damageoccurs. It is the tower erector’s responsibility to ensure proper installation and erectionprocedures. (ref AISC 303-10, section 1.8, Means, Methods and Safety of Erection)

A periodic inspection of all tower bolts is recommended and encouraged.

If the tower was delivered in unassembled kit form, all bracing must be bolted to the tower legs in the order of varying brace length. Bracing consists of 1-1/2" steel angle throughout the entire length of the tower, with 2 bolt holes and 2 notched corners provided on each brace. Tower legs consist of 10 foot, 60 degree formed steel members with multiple bolt hole patterns. All matching tower legs are bundled in sets of 3, and labeled accordingly. Each leg is marked with it's proper orientation (top / bottom) which must be followed to ensure proper assembly. Tower legs which are pre-punched for 5/8" step bolts (option) are identified by the six (6) 3/4" diameter holes in each leg.

It is imperative that the installation of the diagonal bracing is done using the proper pattern. The brace pattern is governed by the inter-sectional braces that cross between each tower section. The section braces will be in the correct pattern when the inter-sectional braces cross between sections in the following order:

Foundation - Sec. -1 Inside of Sections Sec. -1 - Sec. 0 Outside of Sections Sec. 0 - Sec. 1 Inside of Sections Sec. 1 - Sec. 2 Outside of Sections Sec. 2 - Sec. 3 Inside of Sections Sec. 3 - Sec. 4 Outside of Sections Sec. 4 - Sec. 5 Inside of Sections Sec. 5 - Sec. 6 Outside of Sections Sec. 6 - Sec. 7 Inside of Sections Sec. 7 - Sec. 8 Outside of Sections Sec. 8 - Sec. 9 Inside of Sections Sec. 9 - Sec. 10 Outside of Sections

The "LD Series" towers substitute the Foundation section for the next lowest half-section.

The included drawing titled "Section Face Dimensions and Weights" may be used to determine the proper section numbering sequence, and also to determine the outside face measurements that each section should have to align with the next section, when fully assembled. Sections must be assembled on a level surface to ensure proper section alignment.

When assembling tower sections, it is important to first only tighten the 3/8" brace bolts finger tight. After each section is bolted together, there is up to 1" of play available at the section ends at each leg apex. At this point, it is recommended that the inter-sectional bracing is inserted between sections to ensure a fit. After the inter-sectional brace holes line up properly with the holes provided in the section legs, measurements may be taken to adjust the face width at the end of each section to match the recommended distances noted on the "Section Face Dimensions and Weights" drawing. Section face width tolerances of plus or minus 1/8" should be able to be met using this sheet as a reference point. A round file may be a useful tool to have nearby to clean excess zinc out of bolt holes, however this is a rare occurrence.

Section Bracing

There are 3 identical brace lengths for each length of brace, for each of the 3 sides of the tower. Section bracing is fastened to the 3 tower legs using the 3/8" x 1" bolts, nuts and lock washers provided. All bracing must be installed with the horizontal plane of the brace facing upwards once the tower is vertical. Bracing is installed with half the braces on the inside of the tower, and half the braces on the outside of the tower, with an outside and inside brace each sharing 1 bolt in single shear.

Intersectional Bracing

The intersectional bracing is bundled in sets of 3 and labeled, and shall be installed from one section to the next after all other bracing is installed. Intersectional braces fasten in the same way as do all other braces. Care must be taken to be sure bracing is installed in such a way that one section's bracing pattern will align with the next, and that step bolt holes in the legs align with equal separation from leg to leg, in a left to right alternating pattern. Intersectional braces may be identified by the elongated holes in each end of the brace.

2. Assembled Form

Section Joints

Sections are joined together using end-to-end splice connections in conjunction with 1/2" diameter bolts in double shear. Splice plates, 1/2" x 1 1/2" bolts, nuts and lock washers are provided. Refer to the assembly drawings included for proper splice plate location. Two different sized splice plates are used in AN Wireless Towers to connect sections. The 2" wide splice plates shall be used to connect the tower foundation to Section -1, Section -1 to Section 0, Section 0 to Section 1, and Section 1 to Section 2. The 1 3/4" wide splice plates shall be used to connect Sections 2 to Section 3, and all other sections above this, if applicable for the tower chosen. 12 splice plates are used at each section joint, with 4 splice plates used at each leg. Splice plates fit onto both the outside and inside of each leg joint. All section joint bolts must be tightened according to the enclosed "Bolt Installation Assembly" instructions.

3. Foundation

There is a full sub-surface foundation section included with each AN Wireless Tower, complete with it's own bracing. Rooftop or rock mounts are an exception to the standard foundation included. The foundation legs may be identified as being the 5 foot, 60 degree formed legs, each with a series of bolt holes. Foundation bracing is bundled in sets of 3 and labeled. All bracing must be installed with the horizontal plane of the brace facing upwards once the foundation is vertical. One set of inter-sectional braces shall also be installed connecting the 5 ft. foundation section to the first tower section using the 3/8" hardware, with the provided holes in the foundation legs. 9” of the foundation section must remain exposed above the finished concrete.

4. Tower Accessories

Step Bolts

As optional equipment, AN Wireless Towers include a set of 5/8" step bolts and 1/2" step bolts for the purpose of ascending or descending the tower safely. The 5/8" step bolts shall be installed in the largest bolt holes provided on each tower section leg, on alternating sides of the leg. The 1/2" step bolts shall be installed in the splice plate leg connection using one of the 1/2" bolt holes in this joint to continue the alternating pattern of the step bolts. The 5/8” step bolts attach directly to the tower leg with one nut outside the tower leg and one nut inside the tower leg. Lock washers shall be used as necessary. All step bolts must be tightened according to the enclosed "Bolt Installation and Assembly" instructions.

Anti-Climb Panel Set The Anti-Climb panel set includes three (3) pieces of pre-sheared expanded metal which are designed to be placed over the entire lowest 10 ft. section of tower. This material is sheared accordingly to match the face width of the lowest tower section for the tower model selected. After the bottom/top (wide/narrow) orientation of the material is found to match the taper of the tower section, the panels may be placed over each of the three section faces. Each of the three 10 ft. x 60 Deg. corner covers may then be installed over top of the Anti-Climb panels, and bolted to each panel using the included 1/2" hardware. Eight (8) fasteners per leg is recommended for fastening each 60 Deg. corner cover firmly in place over the Anti-Climb panels.

Fixed-Mount Mast Plates / Rotator Plates / Thrust Bearing Plates

Each mounting plate (either a fixed-mount mast plate, rotator plate or thrust bearing plate) includes mounting holes on the outer edges of the plate. These mounting holes are to be used in conjunction with the three welded mounts that support the plate from underneath. Once the welded mounts are fitted into position inside the apex of the tower legs at the appropriate position, the mounting plate bolts on top of the three mounts using the provided ½” hardware. This mounting design offers the maximum open area available for use on the plate surface, while, in the case of rotator plates, also permitting the plate to easily enter the tower section from the outside. If mounting plates were ordered with the tower, the plate mounting hole locations are pre-punched in the tower legs.

Foundation Section Assembly

**If tower base location is thought to be near underground services, call local utilities before you dig!

1) Identify upper horizontal braces (shortest length), lower horizontal braces(middle length) and diagonal braces (longest length). (3) braces of eachlength are included.

2) Locate brace mounting holes as marked in 60" long foundation basesection legs.

3) Bolt upper horizontal braces (3) and lower horizontal braces (3) in placewith supplied 1/2" hardware. These six braces attach to the outside ofthe (3) base section legs.

4) Bolt diagonal braces in place, mounting these on the inside of the basesection legs, sharing the upper and lower horizontal brace holes usingthe supplied 1/2" hardware.

5) Ensure upper foundation leg face width of the 5’ foundation sectionis within + or - 1/16” of the bottom face width of the next tower sectiondirectly above the foundation section. These measurements must betaken on the outside of each leg apex. The lower foundation leg spreaddistance is not critical.

6) With the foundation section placed in the tower foundation hole, plumbeach 60" leg for equal vertical straightness, taking into consideration theinward taper of the legs from bottom to top. Adjust as necessary.

7) Pour concrete down through the middle of the foundation section toensure minimal disturbance of the section.

8) Temporary guying (using rope, heavy wire) may be useful in securingthe foundation section during the concrete pour.

9) Concrete level must be 9" from the top of the 60" foundation base legs.In other words, 9” of the 60” long foundation base section legs mustremain exposed above the concrete.

SYSTEM R4OUIREMENTS: TUF-TUC Cable Safety Climb Systems are designed to meet the performance requironents ofAl.iSI At4.3 for persormel fall arrest on fixed ladders. it utilizes a S 3/8" solid core cable with swaged sleeves to provide ananchorage capable of maintaining a 5,000Ib. tensile load. An impact atenuater js incorporated in the anchor head to help dampenany exbeme shock loads that may occur as a result of a fatl. Cable stand-offs are provided with systems ove1 25 ft. to stabilize andmaintain the cable in a good operable condition.

NOTE: This Cable Safety Climb is intended to be used as part of a complete personal fall protection system. All cornponents,subsystems and connectors should be compatible and meet the appropriate OSHA/ANSI requirements for the intendedapplication. Substandard or non-approved cornponents could compromise the reliability of the system and jeopardize the safetyof the user. It is recommended that the TUF-TUG Wire Rope Crab (ffWRC-500) and Ciimbers/Positioning Full Body Hamess(ITFBH-C/P) be used in conjrmction with the Cable Safery Climb to assure marcimum reliability.

End user should have access to these instructions for reference.SYSTEM REOUIREMENTS: TUF-TUG Wire Rope Grabs are designed to meet the performancerequirements of ANSI A14.3,C5A2259.2.1 &BSEN 353.1forpersonnelfall arrestonfixedladders. It isintended for use on Q 3/8" solid core cable system with an anchorage capable of maintaining a minimum of5000 lbs. tensile load. (NOTE: Specials are provided for other size wire rope and will be specificallyidentified on the housing of the mechanism. IE:. fr114",451rc" and/or O1,12"). It is recommended that theTTWG-500 be attached to a full body hamess with a front "D" ring (TTFBH-C/P) with a 2" Self LockingCarabiner/Hook that meets the proper safety requirements. The maximum length of the connector to thewire grab from the harness should not exceed 9 inches.NOTE: This Wire Rope Grab is intended to be used as part of a complete personal fall protection system.All components, subsystems and connectors should be compatible and meet the appropriateOSHA/ANSI/CSA/EN requirements for the intended application. Substandard or non-approvedcomponents could compromise the reliability of the system and jeopardize the safety of the user.BEFORE EACH USE: Inspect mechanism for proper operation by pivoting cams back and forth.Movement should be free and easy without binding. Check units for deformation, defects, corrosion orwear that may affect the free movement and/or operation of the mechanism. B) Open unit by pivoting clamp bar assembly away from housingC) Attach to cabie as shown in Figures A/B with arrow upD) Close unit by pivoting cams onto rope, making sure that arrow is pointing up as shown in Figures B/C.E) Reinsert pins into housing making sure that ball detent passes through assembly (Figure D).F) Check security of pins by trying to remove without releasing button.G) Work cams back and forth and run fall arrester up and dorvn to assure functionality and freedom

of movement.H) Test installation by pulling dorvn sharply on the attachment eye to ensure that the mechanism

locks onto the cable.

USE.A) After wire grab has been secured to safety cable, attach to safety harness front "D" Ring with anapproved double locking carabiner/hook. (Installation ofwire grab to safety line can take place afterharness attachment if desired). Always keep wire grab above user's center of gravity.B) To ascend safety cable, climb ladder in a normal fashion with torso centered and close to themechanism. Wire grab will follow user if under a steady even pull.C) Ifcable system has guides/supports, remove cable from stand-offs as they are encountered and reinseafter passing. DO NOT REMOVE WIRE ROPE GRAB FROM SAFETY CABLE to pass over guides,supports or standoffs, etc., unless a secondary OSHA approved attachment is made to the stmcture(lanyard, rope grab, etc.) prior to doing so.D) To descend safety cable, again climb down ladder in a normal fashion with torso centered and close tthe mechanism. This will keep the attachment lever up, disengaging the clamping bar and allow the wiregrab to freely lead the climber.E) If the lever is pulled back past center by leaning back, the clamp bar will engage the cable and the wirgrab will lock up. To unlock the mechanism, simply move uprvard to pivot the lever over center. This wallow the wire grab to operate freely.F) Always keep a safe distance of 3 ft from potential hazards to avoid contact if a fall occurs.G) IFTHE WIRE GRAB ARRESTS A FALL, REMOVE IT FROM SERVICE AND REPLACE IT.

CARE:A) After use always clean mechanism and lubricate pivot points. Inspect unit for wear, damage and/ordefects.B) If wire grab shows signs of excessive wear or a defective condition, remove it from service and replarit. If in doubt retum it to the factory for evaluation.C) Keep your wire grab/fall arrester in a safe/dry storage location to prolong its service life and assure itrfunctionality.D) Never alter or use a wire rope grab that has been altered, the potential malfunction could result inserious injury or death.
