Experience:
Senior Production Engineer, Body Shop
Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc., Normal, Illinois
2003 to Current
Planned and managed projects ranging from $5K-$3Million.
Directed the implementation of a new equipment control system consisting of PLC’s (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMI’s (Human Machine Interfaces) and field bus controls.
Led the design, build, and installation of a new integrated computer system, that interfaces between shop floor PLC's and host computer, to deliver the production build schedule and vehicle information to shop level equipment.
Facilitated and managed, from conception through implementation, a RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) system for tracking vehicles throughout the manufacturing process. Resulted in a cost savings of $85,500 over 3 year period.
Investigated and implemented a new robotic VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) marking system utilizing a heavy duty scribing unit and 3D vision system to mark the VIN and record image of the VIN to a network drive.
Managed the implementation of a plant monitoring system utilizing industrial automation software (ICONICS). The HMI/SCADA System (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) monitored 18 assembly lines consisting of 50 plus PLC’s.
Selected and directed the implementation of various vision systems. Manufacturers include SICK, Banner, Cognex, and Keyence.
Collaborated with Manufacturing, Maintenance, Material Handling, Safety, and UAW (United Auto Workers) on equipment design, layout, and processes.
Managed and executed multiple process improvement and problem-solving projects, both independently and by leading or collaborating with other departments.
