Gen 3:8-10
“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they
hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
But the Lord God called to the man, "Where are you?"
He answered, "I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid
because I was naked; so I hid."
Jesus’ Atoning Work on the Cross pays our sin debt,
covers our shame, sets us free, and restores our
intimacy with Abba Father.
One of the most fundamental aspects of being Christ-like is
INTIMACY WITH ABBA FATHER&
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We are NOT referring to or seeking:
Spiritual GiftsFruit of the Spirit
Spiritual DisciplinesManifestations
Eph 3:14-19
“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from
whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives
its name.
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may
dwell in your hearts through faith.
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in
love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long
and high and deep is the love of Christ,
and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to
the measure of all the fullness of God.”

SO THAT:“Christ may dwell in our
hearts”“you may be filled… all the
fullness of God”
As I’ve been drawn into the Deeper Life in Christ, I’ve
noticed that certain people emphasize different things. (i.e. inner healing, soul care,
spiritual formation, etc.)
I believe Abba Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit desires to
strengthen/heal/transform our body, soul, and spirit so
that we can be filled with more of Himself!!!
Abba Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit desires to continue the
strengthening/healing/transforming of our body, soul, and spirit
so that we can be filled with more and more of Himself!!!
1 Cor 6:19-20
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who
is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a
price…”
Phil 1:6
“…being confident of this, that he who began a good
work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of
Christ Jesus.”
Rom 8:29-30
“For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among
many brothers.
And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified;
those he justified, he also glorified.”
What are some of the attitudes that hinder us from allowing Christ to
complete His construction in us?
So rigidly focused on the “Means” (Spiritual
Disciplines) that we miss out on the true end result,
Intimacy/Abiding with Abba, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Dave Benner’s story of the teacher telling his student to stop looking at his finger and focus on the stars
Mulholland: "... the greatest single danger in the spiritual
disciplines is the temptation to turn them
into works righteousness. Since the disciplines are
activities we perform,
from the very first performance there is the possibility that we begin to think our performance will make the difference in our growth toward wholeness in
Christ for others.
There is a tremendous tension here. Without the performance
of disciplines, God is, for all practical purposes, left
without any means of grace through which to effect
transformation in our lives.
But without God's transforming grace, our
disciplines are empty, hollow motions, the form of godliness
without the power. The solution is found in the inner dynamics of how we engage
in the disciplines, the deep inner posture of being (not
doing) we bring to the disciplines..." Mulholland, Invitation to a
Journey p. 136 (Emphasis mine)
