Restaurant Review Scarborough Fair By Walt Bischoff The fun involved in checking out restaurants is to come across an unusual one. Entering Scarborough Fair is like finding a combination of a tree house and Hansel & Gretel’s playhouse. It is located at 1414 Meetinghouse Rd, Sea Girt, NJ 08750 (732) 223-6658. From 1879 until 1969 this was a farmhouse after which it was completely modified and made into a very romantic restaurant. When you first enter into the beautiful foyer you see wonderful wood paneling offset by brickwork. As you ascend the stairs you begin to notice the many secluded tables and rooms that abound. The food and service are impeccable. Although, keeping in mind the romantic nature of the place, everything proceeds at a leisurely pace. If you are in a hurry, you won’t enjoy this place. While there we enjoyed, among other items, the bacon wrapped jumbo wild shrimp and grilled portabella mushrooms as appetizers and entrees of flounder St Moritz, seared diver sea scallops, and the stuffed pork chop. For dessert we had pumpkin cheesecake, bread pudding, Tartufo and apple pie alamode. It was a feast worthy for royalty, which we consider ourselves to be deserving of. Pricing is moderate, service is very good and value is exceptional!
