A Message from our Principal AVID Conference Last week, Mrs Lappan, Mr McKinnon, Mrs Poulson and Ms O’Brien visited Melbourne to attend the AVID Australia Conference. This Professional learning reinforced the idea of helping students to develop a growth mindset and gave us valuable ideas about how to deliver a numeracy based program and activities. We will look forward to implementing some of these new ideas in our classrooms in 2019. Presentation Days Congratulations to all of our K-2 students for doing such a fantastic job today at the K-2 Presentation Assembly and thank you to Mrs Lappan for stepping in my absence. Well done to all the award winners, a testament to your hard work throughout 2018. Thank you to Mrs Reid for the organisation of the event and to the performance groups who did us proud. Thank you to the large number of parents and families there to support the children – much appreciated. We are very proud of all of our K-2 students for the improvements and progress they have made through 2018. Don’t forget that tomorrow is our 3-6 Presentation Ceremony commencing at 9:30 am in the school hall. Parent Helpers Morning Tea Last Friday, WWS held a Parent Helpers Morning Tea in the school hall. This small token of our appreciation was the very least we could do to repay you for your commitment to our students and school community. Stage Days Out Next week, each of our school stages will be having an end of year day out. If you have not yet returned a permission note and payment, please do so by Friday this week. School Reports Don’t forget that school reports will be issued to students on Friday the 14th of December. If your child is not at school on that day for any reason, reports will available for collection at the school office when the students return on the first day back – Wednesday, January 30, 2019. Ethics Classes 2019 Could you volunteer to teach Ethics for Woy Woy South Public School? We are expecting that the number of students wishing to participate in Ethics classes will continue to grow. We need volunteers so that we can continue to offer classes right through from Kindy to Year 6. Volunteers must be available for half an hour from either 9am or 9:30am each Tuesday morning (during teaching weeks) and are provided with thorough training (a two- day workshop and a couple of hours of on-line training) and easy-to-follow lesson materials.
