Welcome to week 7, I know that I’m not the only one who feels that time is getting away from us. Staff

are busy making sure students finalise their assessment tasks and completing testing. Next week,

students in Year 7 to Year 10 will be completing exams in English, Humanities, Mathematics and

Science. On Wednesday December 2 students will participate in Transition Day, a day where all

students will be in their 2021 Class groups and will be learning about their 2021 learning program. Also

in Week 9 Year 10 Students will be attending a Flying start program to prepare them for their Year 11

    studies.

    Staffing news

Congratulations to Ann Grant, Robbie Thomas on successfully re-applying for their positions and

welcome to Nicole Carroll. They will help make up the Education Support Team with Kylie McKenzie,

Leonie Carroll and Billy Kydd. This week staffing has almost been finalised with teachers being added to

our staff. Amanda Shalders will be the new F/1 teacher. Amanda comes with a great deal of experience

working with children of all ages and also with the capacity to join our Teaching and Learning Team.

Filimone Afa will teach Technology to Years 7-11 students. I will be advertising a part time position for

a teacher to join us. They will work alongside teachers to assist students who need additional support

to catch up after the disruption caused by COVID in 2020. I’m very excited about our staffing profile for

next year. The curriculum being offered has our children’s best interests at heart, our staff have

suggested several additional programs that will develop student capabilities to be healthy, happy

    people.

    Pupil Free Day

Last Thursday all staff participated in our Pupil Free Day. The morning was used to learn about Zones of

Regulation. Staff will be modelling the Zones of Regulation approach before we introduce the zones to

the students. More information will follow as the College proceeds to fully implement the program.

We will be using Zones of Regulation to support each other, to be mindful of our own coping strategies

and to be empathetic to those of others.

    Aerosol Cans

With the onset of warmer weather students are rightfully controlling body odour by using deodorant.

This is a reminder that only roll on deodorants should be brought to school. Aerosols can trigger

asthma attacks. Please support asthmatic staff and students by ensuring that your child has a roll on

    deodorant.

    Continued on page 2

    Please Note:

    The Office Foyer has a

    maximum occupancy

of 1 person at a time

    during COVID-19

    restrictions.

    This applies to Staff,

    Students and Parents.

    PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY

It is harvest time and with that comes increased movement and slow moving traffic on our

    roads.

Please be aware and drive to the road conditions.

    Uniform

A reminder about the sports uniform. Sports uniform must be worn in its entirety and not combined with non-sport uniform items.

Students may wear the sports uniform all day on days they have scheduled Physical Education/Sport practical classes. It is highly

recommended that older students change out of their sports tops. Students may wear the sports uniform to school, if they have PE in

first two sessions, or from school if they have PE in last lesson. Students should wear their school uniform on days when students do

not have Sport or Physical Education, this means school shorts or pants. All uniform items should be worn at a respectable length, I’m

referring to all shorts and school dresses.

    Parents and Friends

This year the Parents and Friends group has formed three committees. These are; the Beautification Committee, this group looks at

how the school’s grounds can be improved so that it looks nice and is more functional for students. So far the Committee has planted

the trees that line the entrance and exit of the school, it has also funded the new fence around the basketball courts and arranged for

the school entrances and exit to be modernised. The committee wants to include all families in events like Bonfire Friday. The Uniform

committee has just completed a uniform review which included identifying new items and reviewing the policy. This will need to

continue to be monitored. The committee also wants to investigate formal uniform items for student leaders who represent the

college in public. The Fundraising committee is responsible for identifying projects that will benefit our students then run fundraising

events to enable them. The College is looking for new members to each of these committees. The only qualification needed is that

you are dedicated to making Manangatang P12 College a school of excellence, one that you are proud to have your child attend.

    Mobile Phone Policy

A reminder that students must store their mobile phones in the lockers provided. They are not to be stored in bags or personal

lockers. This is a policy initiated by the State Government and is non-negotiable, parents will be notified if students don’t comply with

    this policy.

    Water bottles

All students are encouraged to bring a labelled water bottle to school and to bring them to class. Please ensure that only water is

brought to school sugary drinks are not allowed.

Attendance No Year level achieved 100% attendance in the last week.

Happy and safe weekend Nat Mouvet

  • Drink bottles and masks A reminder that all students should be drinking from their own water bottles. These can be refilled from the bubble taps. Masks must be worn by students in years 7-12 in class and out of class. Thanks everyone.

    In the Foundation/One Classroom

We have been working on the topic of ‘Discovery’ in THEME and how to use different materials to create things. During Week 6, we role played as engineers and construction workers to create a huge city. Each student created a different building and explained its use. In our city, we had many different buildings – including a Spiderman Tower, a working crane and helipad!

    Lost Property

Just recently it seems that quite a few jumpers, hats

and other personal items (lunch boxes) are being

found in the yard and left behind in classrooms. It is

easy to return items when they have been labelled.

To help staff return items can you please ensure that

all personal items have a name on them.
