CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES

Godly PlayAGES 3 – 3RD GRADE, 10:20 – 11:05 A.M., UPSTAIRS IN THE EDUCATION BUILDING

Godly Play is a Montessori approach to teaching Bible stories, the Sacraments, and sacred time to children. It utilizes a discovery method of teaching with well-designed, developmentally appropriate story-telling materials in a child-scale classroom. Th e goal is that children come to know God—not just about God—and prepare to participate more fully in parish worship and service as they grow older. NOTE: Children must be potty-trained to participate in Godly Play.

To register, go to www.incarnation.org or contact us at [email protected].

I-454TH & 5TH GRADE, UPSTAIRS IN THE EDUCATION BUILDING, ROOM 230

I-45 is an exciting new ministry program exclusively for fourth and fi ft h graders, designed to introduce them to a deeper level of Christian discipleship, as well as help prepare them for the unique challenges and opportunities they will encounter in young adolescence. Sunday mornings will include relevant teaching, small- group breakout sessions and fun activities and games. Th ere will also be opportunities for fellowship and service outside of the classroom.

To register, go to www.incarnation.org or contact us at [email protected].

Kingdom Kids Worship for Young ChildrenPOTTY-TRAINED 3 YEAR OLDS – 1ST GRADE 9 A.M., DOWNSTAIRS IN THE EDUCATION BUILDING, ROOM 112

Family worship is very important at Church of the Incarnation, but we realize that our youngest members may have a diffi cult time sitting through an entire service. In order to assist parents, we created Kingdom Kids, a Sunday Worship option for children ages 3 (and potty-trained) through 1st grade. For parents who would like to utilize this ministry, children are dropped off at the Kingdom Kids classroom, located downstairs in the Education building on the east side of the Great Hall. Th ey will enjoy playtime, a short Bible story, and will then be led into the worship service so that you may worship together as a family during the celebration of Holy Communion.

NurseryAGES BIRTH – 5 YEARS OLD, 8:45 A.M. – 12:45 P.M., DOWNSTAIRS IN THE EDUCATION BUILDING

Incarnation encourages families to worship together, but we also understand the need for loving and nurturing childcare on Sunday mornings. Babies and children (birth to 5 years old) are welcome in the nursery, located downstairs in the Education building (the south hallway). Please bring diapers, a change of clothes, bottles and snacks.

Building Blocks: A Primer for Christian WorldviewGreat Hall | Kyle Queal

Th e lens through which we view the world shapes, not just how we live in it, but how we even describe what we see. Th is lens has oft en been called a “worldview”, and it covers everything from issues of life and death, money, ethics of the body, politics, the nature of the church, vocation, and everything in between. Th e question has been asked, “When you look at the world, what is it that you see?” What we may not realize is that the answers to this question are more varied and complicated than we may assume. Join Kyle Queal, Head of School at Th e Covenant School of Dallas, as we employ the “eyeglasses” of Scripture, tradition and reason, and explore what it means to have a distinctly Christian view of the world. We may be surprised by what we see....

On the Canterbury Trail: An Introduction to the Christian Faith and the Anglican TraditionChoir Rehearsal Room | Fr. Matthew Olver

Adult Confi rmation Preparation: If the Alpha class is to help explore the kinds of questions that the Bible and Christian faith pose to us, the “On the Canterbury Trail” is a place to dig more deeply into the heart of Church’s core teachings. Th is class will run the fall semester and will cover basic Christian teaching, the worship and liturgy of the Church, the Sacraments, resources for a personal devotional life and the depth and vigor of the Anglican tradition. Th is class is required for all adults who wish to be baptized and/or Confi rmed (along with those who wish to be received into the Episcopal Church from the Roman Catholic or Orthodox Churches), it also will be of tremendous benefi t to anyone who wants to go deeper in their Christian faith.

Our bishop, the Right Reverend James M. Stanton, will administer Confi rmation to adults on Sunday, December

12 at the11:15 a.m. Traditional service.

20s/30s Bible StudyFront Offi ce | Matt Larsen

Who is God? Who are we? What does it mean to live in community? Why is this world fractured? What does it mean to be God’s people? How do we live faithfully in this broken world?’ Th ese are the foundational questions

that the story of Genesis seeks to answer. Come join in fellowship with us as we listen to the fascinating narrative of the book of Genesis and have conversations about how this story of origins informs our understanding of who we are and how we live in our world.

God’s Gift of Adolescence: Parents Seeking Faithful FamiliesFamily Ministries Room | Cynthia Krause

Th is semester our class will be using the book, “Simple But Not Easy: Regaining Balance in Our Family Life”, by Kathleen Fischer. Special emphasis will be placed on looking at the common challenges and opportunities that come with being God’s vessels for raising Godly teenag-ers. We’ll also be using scripture and personal insights into how a family might perform traditional “church” functions as it deals with : Imperfection, Unconditional acceptance, Commitment, Forgiveness and reconciliation, Pastoral care, Hospitality, Practicing discernment, Teach-ing spiritual practices, and other ways we are “church” within our family.

Acting Out for Jesus: A Study of the Book of ActsConference Room | Dr. David Krause

Th e gift of the Holy Spirit aft er the death and resurrection of Jesus was a serendipitous eruption of the Risen Lord’s presence among his disciples. And they could not help but act! Th e Book of Acts is the story of their eruptive and disruptive acting out of the presence of Christ, in a pagan and diverse set of cultures. Join in this study of the ministries of Saints Peter and Paul in the fi rst century in what is called “Th e Acts of the Apostles” (which should be called “Th e Acts of the Holy Spirit”), which tells the story of the dynamic spread of the Gospel from the Twelve Apostles in Jerusalem to a wider Jewish audience, then a world-wide audience on Pentecost and then be-yond to Jerusalem and then beyond to the Gentile world. Please join this class and explore: a)How Saints Peter and Paul acted as they spread the Gospel in Jerusalem and beyond to the civilized world, and b)How we might erupt into acts of the Holy Spirit as we seek more faithfully to deal with the plethora of “other gods” passionately promulgated by our American culture.

This year Incarnation celebrates our 20th year of the Festival of Nine

Our readers will be well known community leaders and members of our parish. Our choir and the con-gregation provide the musical settings

of these readings with hymns and carols. Mark your calendars for 5.00 PM on either date, and invite those who have never experienced Lessons and Carols. It’s become our tradition at the Church of the Incarnation; why not make it a tradition with your friends and family also?

COMMUNITY LIFE - ACTIVITY GROUPS Incarnation “Activity Groups” are a new off ering whose purpose is to deepen community through activities — a great example of this would be the 30+ people who recently signed up to attend a Texas Rangers game, along with the Mercy Me pre-show!

We want to hear your suggestions — what is it YOU love to do? Why not get a group together — we’ll help!Contact Alesha LeBlanc @[email protected] or Fr. Th omas at [email protected]
