Now delivering pizzaThe dietary department is now delivering pizza in style! Our cooks are pleased to announce that we have a new recipe for house-made pizzas on our menu. After preparing our signature pizzas and adding our famous house-made garlic butter to the crust and lightly dusting the pizza crusts with Parmesan cheese the pizzas are then placed in delivery boxes and sent to the units. Let us know what you think!

It’s that time of year againPlease remember to take home summer clothes to make room for your loved one’s winter clothing.

We would like to welcome all staff who have transitioned to become County staff. Their faces may not be new, but the new look of the Bistro staff is quite eye-catching.

Our Commitment to YouA Message from Jane Sinclair, GM, Health & Emergency Services

Jane SinclairGeneral ManagerWe hope everyone is

enjoying this beautiful fall season and looking forward to the

holidays. We are excited to bring you the most recent updates about what’s happening in your home or residence, as we continue working diligently to ensure the highest quality of care for our residents.

At Georgian Village, our Sodexo contract has ended as of September 2018 and we are so pleased to welcome these employees as new members of our County Team! We look forward to delivering all campus services directly by your friends from the County of Simcoe.

The County’s Age-Friendly Community Planning initiative, led by an Advisory Committee of more than 37 members representing various organizations and older adults across the region, celebrate seniors in our communities by recognizing National Seniors Day on October 1, 2018.

As such, a proclamation was declared by Deputy Warden Terry Dowdall along with a press release to acknowledge and thank seniors in Simcoe County for their

tremendous contributions to the community and businesses.

Further to the 2018 provincial budget, Georgian Manor, Simcoe Manor, Sunset Manor and Trillium Manor will receive annual base of $54,100 for falls and injury prevention equipment.

As a result of this funding, plans have been made to purchase falls prevention equipment such as alarms, fall mats, hip protectors and Ultimate Walkers. This equipment has shown success in limiting potential injury and thus reducing the need for transfer to hospital.

New funding in the amount of $90K has been received by the Société Santé en français Inc. to strengthen French language services capacity in long term care and seniors housing. Georgian Manor is officially identified by the province as a long term care home that provides French Language Services to its residents and includes

a prioritization structure with the provincial placement process.

This Health Canada funding will support sustaining and expanding French Language Services that are offered at Georgian Manor and Village. Specifically, this program funding will enable better understanding and support of the needs of our Francophone population, enhance signage and pertinent documents, develop bilingual recruiting practices, and strengthen community engagement.

In 2018, the province increased funding to the County to support the addition of five new nursing positions to our Specialized Behavioural Support Team.

This program provides support to residents with behavioural needs across all 26 long-term care homes in the North Simcoe Muskoka LHIN. With Dementia impacting the lives of one in every 10 individuals 65+, we are so pleased to offer additional resources to support our residents, their families, and our staff.

Hope you enjoy this edition of our newsletter and look forward to bringing you updates soon!
