• The six categories which you could be assessed on are:

• Gender• Age• Ethnicity• Sexuality• Class and status• Physical ability/disability• Regional identity

Today’s lesson

Work in pairs on a specific area of representation. Write down all your beliefs and knowledge surrounding this stereotype on a piece of A3 paper.

What you must include

Stereotypes about your chosen group

Explanations of why these particular stereotypes are used and in which TV Genre they are most likely to be found.

Images focusing on the ‘mise-en-scene’ of a specific stereotype.

An opinion on whether the representation is fair and accurate.

Historical context on the representation. i.e. has the way a group is represented changed over time?

Key elements of mise en scene which help establish the representation

Any theory which you feel is relevant.

What ideology lies behind the text.

You have today’s lesson to complete this task. You will then be required to start subsequent lessons with your presentation.
