REPORT
SURVEY ON HOW STUDENTS DO THEIR COURSEWORK
Coursework is compulsory in university and college life. We believe everyone
has done coursework before. We are conducting a survey to get feedback from
Design and Technology students in third semester of preparatory programme in IPG
KPT. The feedback is collected for improving the way students do their coursework.
Firstly, it considers the uses of the Internet in coursework. It will then describe what
students gain from coursework. The third part compares individual coursework and
group discussion.

The bar chart shows the number of students and how they use the Internet in
coursework. Majority of the students agree that the Internet is used for finding
information, getting latest news and checking grammatical errors in doing
coursework. From the survey, 31 out of 44 respondents strongly agree that they use
the Internet to find information for coursework. Only one respondent neither agree
nor disagree of that statement. On the other hand, 28 respondents strongly agree
while other 15 respondents agree that the Internet provide latest news. For the
purpose of checking grammatical errors, majority of the respondents agree while
only 2 respondents disagree. Hence, the Internet is important in doing coursework.

The bar chart shows the number of students who get the better understanding
of a topic through coursework. Based on the data collected, most of the respondents
show that they could sometimes understand a topic better through coursework. This
is showed by 21 respondents. There is no any respondent that do not understand a
topic better through coursework. However, 3 respondents are rarely getting the
better understanding of a topic through coursework. Only 6 respondents understand
a topic every once in a while. The remaining 14 respondents stated that they almost
always get better understanding of a topic through coursework. Therefore,
coursework could sometimes help the students to get a handle on a topic.

The pie charts show the comparison between individual coursework and
group discussion. Some students prefer individual coursework rather than group
discussion since they are hardly to get cooperation from other group members while
doing the coursework. More than half of the respondents, which is 52%, prefer to
have individual coursework. Only 18% of the respondents prefer group discussion.
The remaining 30% shows moderately acceptable with the statement. On the other
part, 66% respondents think that they could not achieve working hand in hand with
others. Only 7% respondents think that all group members are cooperative. Another
27% respondents stand in between. Thus, cooperative problems cause students to
prefer individual coursework.
In conclusion, this survey successfully gets interesting feedback on the way
students do their coursework. The Internet is widely used by the students to
complete their coursework. Coursework could sometimes help students to
understand the topic better by expressing their own ideas. It could also be clearly
seen that individual coursework is more preferable than group discussion. As such, it
is necessary for students to improve their ways of doing coursework.
