Beauty and the Beast is the story of a young girl who is going about her typical day shopping in her French village when her world is turned upside down. Her ailing father goes to collect money that they are owed. He gets lost and is ordered by a Beast to bring the young girl to him. The father returns to the French village and the daughter fi nds out what happened and how her father is not willing to give her up. She decides to go herself. Will Beauty stay trapped with the Beast forever? Will the villagers and her father come to her rescue? Will Bruno, the handsome, sometimes annoying, young man from the French village save the day and win Beauty back from the Beast? Come see this fun-fi lled show with tea cups, tea pot, clocks, and a candlestick that come to life, as well as scary wolves and some lovely dancing. Beauty and the Beast will be presented by the Highlight Acting Troupe on Friday and Saturday, April 4, 5 at 7:30 pm; and Saturday and Sunday, April 5, 6, at 2:00 pm. BORN AGAIN?What does it mean to be Born Again? What did the re-ligious leader mean when he said to Jesus, “We know you are a teacher who has come from God....For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him?” What did Jesus mean when he replied saying: “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” It answers to questions such as these that the Nassau and Stuyvesant Reformed Churches will deal as they take up the message in the Gospel of John 3:1-17 on Sunday, March 16th. In the sermon the Rever-end Edward L. Van Kampen will speak about how we help a person to “Shine with God’s Light in his heart,” that is be “Born Again?” Join us and come to more fully understand what it means to develop a new outward focus, a new set of values, and come in to a new family- a family of the Spirit. GILEAD LUTHERAN CHURCH STORY DINNEROur March story dinner will be held on Friday, March 21st, in the Fellowship Hall at 6PM. The stories connected with these dinners are not stories about religion, in fact most of them are about ordinary people on their travels through life. Some of these stories are funny and some of them can be sad. At February’s dinner, we learned about disaster relief and how to be prepared in case of a disaster. EMPTY BOWLSOn Sunday, March 23rd, an Empty Bowls event to benefi t the Heifer Project will be held at the Church of the Covenant United Methodist Church, Rte 43, near the intersection with Old Route 66 in Averill Park. The Heifer Project provides animals for needy families and villages all over the world. The animals provide food and/or clothing for the families. The date and time is Sunday, March 23rd, from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. There will be a “Freewill Offering” for your bowl, soup and bread. You may bring your own bowl or you can use the church bowls. The soup will be provided by Aver-ill Park, Sand Lake and West Sand Lake area restaurants.
