• Smart Grid is not just smart meters: it’s about optimizing generation and transmission to increase renewables penetration, minimize losses, and enhance system affordability and reliability. Regulatory frameworks need to incentivize the relevant investments, e.g. via simpler permitting rules and better regional collaboration and integration.
