We have discovered that official emails from SFU ([email protected]) sent to or forwarded to any email accounts hosted by Microsoft are being identified as SPAM and delivered to recipients’ junk mail folders, or not delivered at all in some cases.
Affected email addresses include @hotmail.com, @outlook.com, @live.com and @live.ca. SFU emails sent to other addresses, such as Gmail, Shaw, Telus, etc, are NOT affected.
Please recommend to your students that they NOT use one of the problem email services in their SFU admission applications or subsequent correspondence — and refer them to sfu.ca/students/email-‐problem/ for more details.

POST SECONDARY SELF-‐REPORTING: Starting January, 2016, many institutions have opened their self-‐reporting portals via the institutions student service centre (your personal institution account). Please check with your institution to ensure you understand and are aware of important self-‐report date deadlines. SFU self-‐report is open January 4th – April 30th (If you’re applying for scholarships or believe you may be considered for an entrance scholarship, you MUST self-‐report by Feb. 15th. awarded to deserving BC students that have met adversity during their life and, have demonstrated a good work ethic, tenacity, and other commendable attributes in achieving their academic and social goals; and without TCF's support may not have the means to attend a post-‐secondary institution.
• TCF will reimburse up to a total of $35,000 for books and tuition leading to an undergraduate degree or equivalent.
• Award of a TCF Scholarship is conditional upon the applicant graduating from a BC secondary school and enrolment in a post-‐secondary institution, trade institute, or college.
• Individuals eligible to receive full funding for their education elsewhere cannot apply for this scholarship.
• All applications must be received via mail or submitted online no later than the last Friday in February of any particular year.
• A letter from school stating that you are one of two students nominated to apply for the Cmolik Foundation scholarship is a requirement.
• All applications (2 applicants per school) must be nominated/endorsed by the secondary school.
• If you wish to be considered for nomination for this award, you will need to meet with Ms. Pickering and provide her with your Student Profile

BC Government and Service Employer Union (BCGEU) 2015 Student Scholarship Awards Scholarships are offered to students who are related to BCGEU members and who are entering recognized programs in post-‐secondary institutions in 2016. http://www.bcgeu.ca/member_resources_scholar Deadline: February 29, 2016 LANGLEY TEACHERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS • Accepted at a publicly accredited ministry

April 1, 2016 See attachment for more detailed information SFU -‐ Surrey Close to Home Entrance Awards ($2,000) This award is intended for students who want to attend the SFU Surrey Campus. Preference is given to students who live south of the Fraser River. An application is required and can be
found online in your SFU Student Information System. You must have applied for admission and the scholarship by Feb. 28/16
PAYMENT ONE: To receive the first payment in your first term at SFU, you must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 units. 9 units must be courses taken at the Surrey campus. If you enroll in 11 units or fewer, your award will automatically be deferred to the next term. To be eligible for your first payment in the following term, you must meet the renewal cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.50 on your first term marks, and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 units. 9 units must be courses taken at the Surrey campus, including 6 units in your first-‐year program.

UNIQUE POST-‐SECONDARY PROGRAMS:
UBC: ARTS ONE, SCIENCE 1, CO-‐ORDINATED ARTS PROGRAM AND CO-‐ORDINATED SCIENCE PROGRAM These programs are for first year students who want to be part of a small learning community, with contact and support from enthusiastic professors. Students choose the theme they find of interest. Each program is worth a set amount of credits allowing for additional credits of electives. Requirements Arts One is open to any student accepted into the first year in the Faculty of Arts or Science. There is no separate application and registration is first-‐come first-‐served. Arts One is a writing intensive course and students should ideally meet one of the following conditions:
• a minimum of 80% in English 12 or English Lit 12. (International students’ grades will be translated into British Columbia equivalents to determine eligibility. For US students this typically means a minimum of B+ is needed in senior year English)
• or a minimum score of 4 in AP English. • or a minimum score of 5 in IB Higher

The Forest and Natural Areas Management (FNAM) program is a two-‐year diploma program with a focus on
forestry, vegetation management, arboriculture for supporting sustainable community development in both rural and urban environments. The program gives you a strong foundation in ecology, earth sciences, mapping, surveying & measurements. You will learn skills and training in silviculture, forest inventory, forest engineering, fire & forest health management, and urban forestry. The programs unique focus natural areas in urban & interface environments provide you with skills in the management of trees, invasive species & soil resources. The breadth of technical and field-‐based skills you acquire also relevant to many other natural resource sectors. TRU – Tourism Double Degree Partnership with the Netherlands TRU has recently partnered with the NHVT Breda University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands to offer a double degree in Tourism Management. Students will complete three years at TRU and finish their fourth year at NHVT to earn a second credential (Bachelor of International Tourism Management or Bachelor of International Leisure Management).

Langley Teachers’ Association Scholarships Guidelines for Students in Secondary
2015-2016 School Year
Criteria:
• Registered as a student in the Langley School District • Accepted at a publicly accredited ministry approved post secondary institution;
to be verified by letter from the institution. • Demonstrates a history of sustained involvement within the school and/or wider
community in a manner that speaks to their understanding of, and willingness to be engaged in, social justice, community, equity, leadership, minority issues and work in these areas.
• Submits a letter to the Langley Teachers’ Association President outlining their involvement. (include return mailing address and email address)
• Submits two letters of reference, one must be from a teacher at their school, in support of their scholarship application.
• Application and letters of reference to be received at the LTA no later than April 1st, 2016 at 4:00pm.
Logistics:
• Criteria will be distributed to all secondary school counselors once approved by the LTA Executive Committee.
• The LTA scholarship fund will be divided equally between each of the ten Langley secondary schools, should all schools submit applications.
• LTA Scholarship fund for 2015/16 will be set at $8,000.00 to permit ten (10) scholarships of $800.00 each to be presented to a student at each secondary school that submits applications.
• If a limited number of secondary schools submit applications, the remaining funds will be allocated at the rate of $800.00 per student. The remaining applications will be reviewed on a ‘merit’ based system.
• Scholarships awarded previously in memory of Langley teachers will continue to be presented in their name.
• Scholarships are available for students for up to two years if the student chooses to take a gap year after high school. Students must provide proof of registration in a post secondary program in September 2016 or 2017 or January 2017 or 2018 in the years following their scholarship award, and then a cheque will be provided to each scholarship winner.
• Either a member of the LTA Executive, an LTA school based staff rep or a teacher of the student’s choice at each secondary school will present the award at their graduation ceremony.
