1 Tekla Structures 16.0 SR1 Release Notes

This document explains new features, fixes and improvements in Tekla Structures 16.0 Service Release 1. We recommend this service release for all Tekla Structures 16.0 users.

The number after the description of the fix (for example TT12345) is the development item number of that particular fix. Your local Tekla office may have referred to this number when you have for example submitted a maintenance request.

General

Multi-user mode• When saving the model in the multi-user mode, the Crossing selection is inactive

message is no longer shown on top of the Database stored message.

TT54470

Modeling

Surface treatment• If a surface treatment has been copied or moved to another object, the deletion of the

original object part does not delete the moved/copied surface treatment(s).

TT53680

Reinforcing bars• The end hook of a reinforcing bar is now correct independently of hook bending radius and

reinforcing bending radius values.

TT53141

Reference models• The change visualization of large subdivided reference models is now considerably faster

than before.

TT54762

Page 8: ReleaseNotes_160_SR1_enu.pdf

8 TEKLA STRUCTURES 15Tekla Structures 16.0 SR1 Release Notes

Splitting objects• If there were both lines and circles, and 3D solids in the model, splitting objects did not

function. This has now been fixed.

TT54933

Cuts in solid parts• Cuts in solid parts sometimes failed, especially if the cut did not extend very far outside the

part face to be cut. Now the cuts in solid parts are created more robustly and there are fewer failures.

TT54335

Assembly properties• Previously, it was possible to modify the assembly name, start number and prefix in the

Construction Management configuration. This has been changed so that modifying these properties is not possible in the Construction Management configuration anymore.

TT54285

Filtering by object types and logical areas• Previously, filtering by object types and logical areas did not work if objects were

organized as assemblies in Model Organizer. This has now been fixed.

TT54155

Profile Catalog• Profile Catalog is now refreshed correctly for sketched profiles.

TT54185

Model Organizer• Model objects that have been deleted from the model are now removed from the Model

Organizer when you manually refresh the Model Organizer view.

TT53395

• It is not possible to delete model objects in the Model Organizer. You can, however, remove objects from a selected category in the Model Organizer.

TT53673

• When you changed to another model, sometimes there was an error in the Model Organizer and you had to restart Tekla Structures to open the object pane. This has now been fixed.

TT54197

Drawings

Dimensions• Sometimes some dimension points were not associative if

XS_INTELLIGENCE_MAX_RULE_COUNT was defined. This has now been fixed.

TT53516

Page 9: ReleaseNotes_160_SR1_enu.pdf

TEKLA STRUCTURES 15 9Tekla Structures 16.0 SR1 Release Notes

• The middle tag in absolute dimensions is again correctly positioned.

TT55104

Views• View frame of the enlarged views in anchor bolt plans was too small in some cases. This

has now been fixed.

TT53615

• Sometimes after drawing update, the section symbols were moved out of the view, the view frames were enlarged and views were placed incorrectly. This has now been fixed.

TT53299

• Sometimes section marks and view labels changed unnecessarily in multidrawings. This has now been fixed.

TT54232

Dragging• The advanced options XS_CHANGE_DRAGGED_DIMENSIONS_TO_FIXED,

XS_CHANGE_DRAGGED_NOTES_TO_FIXED, XS_CHANGE_DRAGGED_TEXTS_TO_FIXED, XS_CHANGE_DRAGGED_MARKS_TO_FIXED, XS_CHANGE_DRAGGED_VIEWS_TO_FIXED are now working correctly.

TT53404

• View dragging is now faster than in Tekla Structures version 15.0.

TT54410

• Sometimes the section views were not combined or were combined incorrectly if the advanced option XS_DRAWING_CUT_VIEW_COMPARISON_CRITERIA was used. This has now been fixed.

TT53738

Filtering• The Save and Save as buttons are now working correctly and the related boxes show the

correct settings in filtering dialog boxes in drawings.

TT53781, TT54014

• Filters are again working properly in manually created drawing views.

TT54001

• Filtering categories Task, Template and Logical area are now available also in drawing filters.

TT54435

Changes in sheet number functionality• If an existing cast unit drawing sheet number is set to zero, the drawing marks are modified

so that the sheet number is not included. This is similar as when the drawing is created with sheet number zero from the beginning.

TT54021

Page 10: ReleaseNotes_160_SR1_enu.pdf

10 TEKLA STRUCTURES 15Tekla Structures 16.0 SR1 Release Notes

• Select objects in the Drawing List now works correctly and shows the related parts also when the sheet number is set to 0 for cast unit drawings.

TT53659

Detailed object level settings• When you pressed the Modify button in the Object level settings dialog box, also the

settings from the drawing properties dialog box and its sub-dialog boxes were applied. This has now been fixed.

TT54005

• When you pressed the Save button in the Object level settings dialog box, the settings were saved in the file the name of which you had entered in the Save as box. This has now been fixed.

TT53766

• The new detailed object level settings work also when drawings are created using the old AutoDrawings wizard file type of rule sets.

TT54469

• The drawing object level setting groups are no longer displayed in the Object level settings dialog box, if the classifier files have been deleted from the model folder.

TT53791

Weld line types• The weld line type is now taken into account when drawing new welds.

TT53876

Single-part drawings included in assembly drawings• The functionality of including single-part drawings in assembly drawings has been

improved in the following way:

• The quantity of the included single-part drawings is now ignored. For example, if you have a plate p8 in many different assemblies, and you add another p8 in the model, and the p8 has not changed after numbering, the assembly drawing can be opened without numbering.

• If a single-part drawing needs to be updated when creating the corresponding assembly drawing, Tekla Structures now creates a new single-part view, and you no longer need to do this manually.

• The Select objects button in the Drawing List now selects the assembly parts as before.

TT54468

Mini Toolbar• When you tried to remove a fill from a circle using the Mini Toolbar, Mini Toolbar was

not working properly and gave an error message. This has now been fixed.

TT54618

Draw protect command• The Draw protect command can again be added in a toolbar in the Customize dialog box.

Page 11: ReleaseNotes_160_SR1_enu.pdf

TEKLA STRUCTURES 15 11Tekla Structures 16.0 SR1 Release Notes

TT53283

New advanced option for Special color in hatches• Use the new advanced option XS_HATCH_SPECIAL_COLOR_ACI to set the autocad color

index for the Special color in hatches in drawing export. The default values is 120.

TT53925

Colored lines around hatching• Colored lines around hatching defined with the advanced option

XS_SECTION_LINE_COLOR are now drawn on top of part lines.

TT53421

Level attributes• The level attributes ASSEMBLY.MAINPART.TOP_LEVEL and ASSEMBLY.TOP_LEVEL are

now giving correct values in part marks and associative notes. Now, ASSEMBLY.MAINPART.TOP_LEVEL works in the same way as ASSEMBLY.MAIN_PART.TOP_LEVEL, and ASSEMBLY.TOP_LEVEL works in the same way as ASSEMBLY_TOP_LEVEL. The same changes have been implemented for the level attributes for the cast units drawings.

TT54471

Templates and reports

GetFieldFormula rule• When creating reports, the GetFieldFormula rule did not function correctly in some

situations. This has now been fixed.

TT53833

Cast unit center of gravity reports• Subassemblies are now calculated correctly in cast unit center of gravity template fields

(COG_X, COG_Y, COG_Z).

TT54143

Template Editor• In some rare cases, adding an image caused an application error, especially if the file path

to the image file was very long. This has now been fixed.

TT54514

Import and export

Export data to EliPlan file (68)• It is now possible to select the position number type to be exported: cast unit number or

assigned control number (ACN). This setting only affects the pieces and plotter data of the export file.

TT53700

Page 12: ReleaseNotes_160_SR1_enu.pdf

12 TEKLA STRUCTURES 15Tekla Structures 16.0 SR1 Release Notes

Hidden objects in drawing export• Hidden objects no longer cut lines in drawing export.

TT54018

NC files• In the NC files, the number of parts was incorrect when a hard stamp was used in the NC

file containing also part position information.

TT54673

• In NC files, round contour plates with round part cut produced incorrect results. This has now been fixed.

TT50500

• Exporting tube NC files now functions in 64-bit Tekla Structures.

TT54231

Task Manager

Task dependencies• Task dependencies are now checked when task duration is changed as a result of

production rate calculation.

TT53760

• You can now select in which direction a dependent task is moved when the preceding task is moved.

TT53947

Importing and exporting tasks• Previously, task dates and dependencies were not correctly exported from Task Manager

to MS Project if you had made changes in the tasks and not saved the task list. This has now been fixed so that saving is not needed before exporting.

TT54251

• Importing from Task Manager to Primavera P6 did not function correctly. This has now been fixed.

TT54534

Non-working days• The following improvements have been made in the Non-working days dialog box:

• The Remove button functions now properly.• OK and Cancel buttons have been added in the Non-working periods dialog box.• Now it is easier to define weekly recurring events for one non-working days.

TT54104

Page 13: ReleaseNotes_160_SR1_enu.pdf

TEKLA STRUCTURES 15 13Tekla Structures 16.0 SR1 Release Notes

Viewing selections• Now Task Manager remembers all selections that you make in the View menu. When you

open the Task Manager the next time, the selections you made in the View menu in the previous Task Manager session are used. However, if you position toolbars right after each other, they may be misplaced, so we recommend that you do not position the toolbars right after each other.

TT53942

Sorting task information• In tasks that did not have any objects linked to them, there was an error when you clicked

the column headings on the Manage Dates of Individual Objects tab in the Task Information dialog box. This has now been fixed.

TT53828

Modifying task dates• Previously, sometimes when you modified the dates of a task in the Task Information

dialog box and clicked Modify, the changes were not shown on the Manage Dates of Individual Objects tab. This has now been fixed.

TT53945

Task duration• Modifying the planned duration of a summary task from the task list is now disabled.

TT54271

• When you assigned a task type to a summary task, the duration of the task did not match the length of its subtasks. This has now been fixed.

TT54826

Production rate quantities• The quantitiy for production rate was different for parts and assemblies. This has now been

fixed.

TT54443

User-defined attributes• The names of user-defined attrributes are now presented correctly in the Task Types

dialog box.

TT54722

Custom components

Custom component browser• Reinforcement splice information is now available in the Custom component browser.

TT55098

Page 14: ReleaseNotes_160_SR1_enu.pdf

Connections

JP Floor beam gusset (11)• There is now a cut in the upper side corner of the gusset to show which is the upper side of

the gusset.

TT51025

• Two closed beams were regarded as a twin profile beam in the JP Floor beam gusset (11) connection. This has now been fixed.

TT51024

• Welded parts, for example stiffeners, were sometimes incorrectly regarded as the main part flange plate of a built-up beam. This caused gusset plates to have incorrect shapes. This has now been fixed.

TT51023

Shear plate (48)• The tab page contents have now been fixed.

TT54551

Apex haunch (106)• The analysis profile length did not work correctly for the main part. This has now been

fixed.

TT52745

Shear plate simple (146)• The gap between the secondary beam web and the double shear plates is now created.

TT54539

Bent plate (190)• Slotted holes are now created correctly.

Page 15: ReleaseNotes_160_SR1_enu.pdf

TEKLA STRUCTURES 15 15Tekla Structures 16.0 SR1 Release Notes

• Box Bolt diameter is now shown in the table on the Parameters tab.

TT54038

Page 16: ReleaseNotes_160_SR1_enu.pdf

16 TEKLA STRUCTURES 15Tekla Structures 16.0 SR1 Release Notes

Beam Clamp bolts in reports• Bolts used within the Beam Clamp components will not appear in the standard bolt reports

Bolt_Site_Summary and Bolt_Site_location.

TT54064

Steadmans side rail supports (28)• Side rail struts now use 12 mm bolts with 14 mm holes in the cleat and 14 mm square holes

in the rail.

TT46973

HiSpan Sag Rod to Rafters (50)• The connection has been removed from the HiSpan system.

TT54168

Metl-Con Autoform One Sided (20), Metl-Con Autoform Two Sided (22), Metl-Con Autoform Detail (1003)• When the Autoform bolt backmark is below the specified minimum it gives a red cone, but

only when it is to the web of the section. If it is below the specified minimum to the end of the Autoform, it leaves a green cone, but fails the file transfer.

TT45627

• When deleting an Autoform connection from a beam it would remove the connection, but would leave the Autoform data on the beam. This has now been fixed, removing the Autoform connection also removes the Autoform data.

TT52090

UltraZED macros using CSK type holes• When using CSK holes, the actual depth of the CSK is 5 mm from the inside face of the

section, was previously using 5 mm from the outside face of the section.

TT38920

UltraZED Std. Anti-Sag Bay (37) and Eaves Brace (38)• UltraZED Eaves Brace no longer puts a packer plate on when using CSK bolts.

TT44157

UltraZED Eaves beam to stanchion (104)• When fixing to 2 eaves beams with standard UltraZED cleats, if the setting Number of

Profiles is Double, then entire connection and bolts would be doubled. This has now been fixed.

Page 17: ReleaseNotes_160_SR1_enu.pdf

TEKLA STRUCTURES 15 17Tekla Structures 16.0 SR1 Release Notes

UltraZED cold rolled cleat (108)• When connecting to two secondary members, getting the correct cleats would depend on

the picking order of the secondary members. Now Tekla Structures uses the correct cleats using any picking order of the secondary members.

TT50301

Analysis and design

Area load distribution• In some rare cases, the total load and applied load differed for area loads, and a warning

was displayed. This has now been fixed.

TT49859

Area load handling• In some rare cases, incorrect loading was created for single spanning loads. This has now

been fixed.

TT53288

Analysis member offsets• The longitudinal member offset as defined in the analysis properties of a connection was

not taken into account when creating an analysis model in which Member end release method by connection was enabled. This has now been fixed.

TT53087

Analysis nodes• Sometimes, split nodes inserted by users did not function correctly in analysis model

updates. This has now been fixed.

TT54298

TT54280

Nodal loads• In some rare cases, nodal load was applied to a node which did not exist in the model. This

has now been fixed.

TT53113

Snapping• Snapping to an analysis bar or analysis area edge did not work even if the Snap to lines

and edges switch was selected. This has now been fixed. Also, snapping to a node now works if the Snap to geometry lines / points switch is selected.
