Today, every FS-Elliott air compressor has at its heart one of our advanced REGULUS® Control Systems. With this easy-to-use, multifaceted system, plant operators are empowered to master one of a facility’s highest operating expenses – energy costs. Savings are achieved through the REGULUS® operating system’s superior pressure control capability, thereby elimi-nating excessive air blow-offs to the atmosphere while efficiently responding to the facility’s changing air demands.

This proven Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based system is designed with leading-edge technology processors and memory capabilities providing perfor-mance, reliability and convenience. At the touch of the Human Machine Interface (HMI), the operator dictates how REGULUS® monitors, controls and manages all of the air compressor system’s needs. Plant operators can perform these func-tions locally or from a remote location. The REGULUS® information management function stores operating data that can be used for analysis and preventative

maintenance. This historical information is a valuable asset, enabling engineers to identify and avert potential problems. A serial port allows interface communica-tion between the REGULUS® Control System and the User’s Distributed Con-trol System (DCS). If control of the compressor is preferred directly through the DCS, FS-Elliott’s team is ready to assist with the integration solution including instrumentation and control logic development. Optional redundant and fail safe systems can also be incorporated into the REGULUS® package for end users preferring these added features.

The Sirius™ Integrator and REGULUS® Sequencer are additional FS-Elliott con-trol system enhancements for facilities that require multiple unit control and total system administration. These user-friendly systems include advanced energy management capabilities that simultaneously control multiple centrifugal, recip-rocating and rotary air compressors. Supervisory functions include monitoring numerous system components such as cooling towers, dryers, pumps, motor control centers and other auxiliary equipment. Thanks to the Sirius™ Integra-tor and REGULUS® Sequencer, plant operators can cost effectively monitor and control the entire air facility from a common location.

The REGULUS® Control System Series Consists of Four Models – R150, R200, R300 and R400The REGULUS® product line provides the broadest selection of control systems in the centrifugal compressor marketplace. REGULUS® features an Industrial and Engineered Series to economically focus on specific application requirements. The unique REGULUS® design flexibility includes an extensive complement of optional features that can accommodate any site.

For those applications requiring customized solutions, the REGULUS® Engineered Series is the control system of choice. Our Engineered Series systems can be found in every-day use within world-scale Oil & Gas Production, Refining, Chemical and Petrochemical facilities. The R300 includes additional I/O modules to accommodate installations with increased analog and digital input and output requirements. The R300 features an easy to operate HMI touch screen with a Thin Film Transistor (TFT) color graphic display.

Simply said, the R400 is adaptable to any compressor system application. In addition to having the most powerful processor available, the R400’s flexibility easily accommodates the most complex system requirements. The R400 capabilities include dual redundancy, multiple voting and custom software development.

Typical Industrial Series installations include food and beverage, automo-tive manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, electronic component manufactur-ing, mining, textiles and many others. The base model R150 includes a powerful PLC packaged with control and monitoring features that are commonly considered optional features on comparable systems. The R150 also includes a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) touch screen and mul-tiple language capability. Networking communication protocol capabilities include Ethernet, Modbus® and LonWorks®.

The R200 features include an enhanced PLC and additional Input/Output (I/O) capacity that increase the base model’s capabilities and provide for an expanded list of optional items. The R200’s larger memory provides for advanced trending and diagnostics while still maintaining the cost ben-efits of a standardized design.

Sirius™ IntegratorThe Sirius™ Integrator is an advanced graphical presentation, energy management, networking, data acquisition and data administration software package that is spe-cifically designed for compressed air systems. Not only can the Sirius™ Integrator control different types of compressors, but it can communicate with any brand or model compressor equipped with a Modbus® or Ethernet communications port. If a port is not available, we have the capability to control the unit with hard-wired connections. This optional package provides color graphic screens for improved operator awareness while providing advanced energy optimization and reliability for the entire compressed air system.

The Sirius™ Integrator employs “off-the-shelf” HMI software to communicate and graphically display all of the components within the compressed air system through the use of a personal computer. Serial or hard wired connections can be utilized to communicate with devices within the air system. This software also provides the ability to acquire, store and view the air system operating data.

REGULUS® SequencerWith the addition of the REGULUS® Sequencer pack-age, plant operators have the ability to incorporate the most comprehensive master controller available for mul-tiple compressors. The REGULUS® Sequencer’s unique control methodology assures that each compressor in the system shares the load against total system demand in the most energy efficient manner. This exclusive control scheme provides energy savings by making certain that all of the compressors utilize their full turndown capability before unloading air to the atmosphere. The capabilities also include time sharing functions and automatic run time equalization.
