Independence - camping, for many youth, provides that first experience to be away from family in a residential experience. Independent living and self-responsibility become the focus of helping children have a successful experience. These experiences may simply mean learning to be responsible for yourself---cabin responsibilities, getting to and from scheduled events on time, or simply getting up and dressed on time are skills that many children learn as a result of their first camping experience. Mastery - camping provides a wealth of opportunities for youth to acquire mastery in skills within outdoor education and environmental education. Camping provides a core of skill opportunities ranging from archery to sport fishing. Generosity - camp life provides some early opportunities for children to learn the concept of generosity. Helping others in need, whether it is forgotten shampoo, an extra blanket or simply sharing your free time or sitting with an unknown youth, demonstrating caring and concern to a child who is feeling left out, are the character building skills that begin within the camp learning environments.

• Mastery - camping provides a wealth of opportunities for youth to acquire mastery in skills within outdoor education and environmental education. Camping provides a core of skill opportunities ranging from archery to sport fishing.

• Generosity - camp life provides some early opportunities for children to learn the concept of generosity.
