This is a supplement to the "Royallieu" Transit Camp in Compiègne (n°21), and shows just how the prisoners came here on foot guarded by the Nazi soldiers, and their living conditions during the terrible train journey. Two railway cars have been restored to their original state, true to the records of the time, and silhouettes and a number of films showing accounts by former deportees can be seen here.

The Glade of the Armistice> Approximately 6 km from Compiègne towards Soissons. In the heart of the Compiègne forest, carriage no 2419D, converted into an office, was where Marshal Foch, supreme commander of the Allied forces, received the German plenipotentiaries and pre-sented them with the text of the armistice of 1918 which marked the end of the First World War.
