Head of the Department
I am glad to learn that Bhadarwah Campus is going to start the 14th
batch of e-learning for Boys & Girls.
In today’s IT driven society, Computer education is must for
everyone. Bhadarwah Campus is running this course since its inception.
This Campus also offers a certificate course in Communicative English
which enables its students to communicate effectively with confidence. This
certificate course of e - learning prepares its students for operating a
computer system and its application in day to day life.
I am sure the students of this course will be benefited through this
course.

I feel contented that Bhaderwah Campus had
taken an initiative of making the students of this hilly and remote region
computer literate. This course has been designed in such a way that it would prepare the
students to operate and manage computer for keeping them up to date with
ever developing and advancing world of Information Technology. Besides
computer education, the students are also groomed and polished by the
experienced faculty for communication and management skills. We invite you to the world of computers, promising immense growth and

University of Jammu
The University of Jammu has been reassessed and reaccredited by
National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) as an 'A' grade
University.
The University came into existence in 1969 following division of
University of Jammu & Kashmir. The University provides instruction in
37 disciplines and makes provision for research and dissemination of
knowledge. The University holds examination, grants degrees, generates
knowledge and confers diverse academic distinctions on persons who
pursue approved courses of study in the University or in the constituent
colleges/institutions.
The University of Jammu under takes to nation building through training
of young people in the various disciplines and is providing value based
education to make these youth enlightened citizens.
The University takes pride in its assets which include a well equipped
gymnasium and fitness centre, hostel facilities for both boys and girls; cafe
and canteens; magnificent high-tech State of the Art General Zorawar
Singh Auditorium that includes an Art Gallery, Exhibition Halls and a
cafeteria with a Parisian ambience.
With the intention to be recognized as an institution of global excellence,
the University of Jammu has expanded geographically and set up
campuses at Bhadarwah, Kathua, Poonch and Udhampur, besides satellite
Campuses at Kishtwar, Ramnagar and Reasi. 5
Bhadarwah Campus
The University of Jammu took an initiative with the motto of
providing higher education at door steps of the people of this
mountainous and far off area. The academic journey of Bhaderwah
Campus started in the year 2006 with three post-graduate courses viz.
MCA, MBA and MA (English). Beside these courses Bhadarwah
Campus is also running certificate courses of Communicative English
and e-learning.
Bhadarwah is known for its enchanting natural beauty and landscape.
The Campus is located at Sungli, Bhadarwah, a beautiful village in
the lap of Kaplash and Ashapati mountains of the Himalayan
range. This serene and immaculate location of the campus provides
an ideal environment for studies.
The Campus has a state of art infrastructure to provide higher
education at par with international academic standards with young,
dynamic and experienced faculty.
Another landmark of this campus is the Institute of Mountain
Environment which will take research on the problems of mountains
and their inhabitants for better future of coming generations.
Keeping in view the topography and potential of this area, a National
Apple Germplasm Repository has been established in the Campus by
the Department of Science and Technology. 6
Library
The Library of the Campus has a rich collection of books, periodicals and
study material in the areas of Management Studies, Computer Science &
Applications and English Literature etc., with over 4000 books and good
collection of regular National/International Journals and Magazines to keep
the students abreast with explosion of knowledge taking place in the field of
Information Technology. The Library also has a vast collection of Electronic
Data (VCDs, DVDs, etc.).
Today, our Library has slowly grown into a place where one can find latest
books on Information Technology, Management and related fields.
Internet
The Campus is connected to the cyber world with the state of art infrastructure
to facilitate its students and teaching community to make extensive use of the
internet facility.
Having internet facility in the Campus has become a boon for the students as
well as teachers. Teaching and learning communities are benefitted by having
access to the digital resources, material, knowledge and information around
the globe and their usefulness in their career.

(Hard Disk, CD, FD, Flash Drive) 1.4 Computer Languages (High Level and Low Level)
Unit – II (Operating System, Networking and Multimedia)
2.1 Definition and Functions of Operating System. 2.2 Introduction to Windows XP. 2.3 Working with Windows XP.
Windows Explorer, Paint, WordPad, Recycle Bin, etc. 2.4 Introduction to computer networks and communication media. 2.5 Introduction to Multimedia and audio/video editing. 2.6 Adobe Photoshop:
a) Editing , enhancing and Creating images, banners etc. b) Different formats of images (JPEG,BMP,GIF etc.)
Unit – III (Microsoft Office)
3.1. Microsoft Word:
a) Opening, Creating, Saving and Printing a Document (File). b) Page Settings, Inserting Pictures, Tables, Rows and Columns,
Headers and Footers, Autoshapes etc. c) Formatting Fonts, Paragraphs, Alignment, Indentation, Change Case, Mail
Merge etc. d) Editing- Cut, Copy, Paste.
3.2. Microsoft Excel: a) Opening, Creating, Saving and Printing a Document (File). b) Inserting a Formula, Graphs, Creating Bar, Histograms, Pie Charts etc.
