Our Community

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi Academy Company has existed since July 2014, with the initial conversion of four of the Catholic Schools within Bromsgrove and Redditch.

The Central Team has developed since this date to support all the schools within the MAC, to provide a professional and efficient service in all are-as.

All the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi-Academy Schools are dedicated to delivering the highest standards of education and pastoral care com-bined with extensive non-curriculum activities, so that students are safe, continually challenged and personally fulfilled.

Every year a varied and culturally rich range of Educational Visits take place

in order to enhance a student’s Social, Moral and Cultural development

and each of our schools run varied programmes of extracurricular clubs

that students are encouraged to participate in as part of their own person-

nel development and enrichment.

St Augustine’s Catholic High School was designated as a National Teaching School in

September 2017 and since that time, it has taken a leading role in providing a range of

support to other schools and teachers. Its focus is to develop and disseminate excellent

practice by providing training and development for new and experienced teachers and

leaders.

The Teaching School serves a wide geographical area covering Worcestershire,

Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Birmingham.

The support provided comprises: -

• School centred initial teacher training SCITT

• Peer to Peer professional and leadership development

• Recruitment and training of Specialist Leaders in Educations SLEs

The Central Services Team at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic MAC offers a wide range

of services to our schools, to allow them the concentrate on education.

Operational Areas.

The Central Team have responsibility for the four main operational areas Finance, Human

Resources, Premises and Information Technology.

In addition, there is a centrally appointed Data Protection Officer and Data Manager and

advice and support on Governance is provided to our Local Governing Bodies by the

Company Secretary.

The Team

The Central Team is based at The Oaks business park in Redditch. The team have access

to excellent office, meeting and training facilities which can also be utilised by our

schools. The Central Team are managed by the Chief Finance and Operations Officer.

Terms and Conditions of Employment Overview

The following information highlights key aspects of the Multi Academy terms and conditions of employ-

ment. Full terms and conditions are set out in the Employment Contract. Shortlisted candidates will be

given the opportunity to ask questions about the terms and conditions of employment at their formal

interview.

Teaching Staff Salary

Salary and the general terms and conditions of employment are those contained in the current Schools

Teachers’ Par & Conditions of Service for School Teachers’ in England and Wales (Burgundy Book) as

applied by , adopted or amended and subject to the decisions made from time to time by the Multi Acad-

emy relating to the employment of Multi Academy employees.

Support Staff Salary

The general terms and conditions of employment are those negotiated nationally by the National Joint

Council of Local Government (The Green Book) as applied by, adopted or amended and subject to the

decisions made from time to time by the Multi Academy relating to the employment of Multi Academy

employees.

Pension Schemes

The Multi Academy offers membership of the Teachers’ Pensions Scheme for teaching staff , current

employer contribution rate 23.68% and the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for Support staff

employer contribution rate 17.7%

Working Time - Teaching staff

The School Teachers Pay & Conditions Document does not set specific working weeks for members of the

leadership group and those on the pay range for leading practitioners. School Leaders will be required to

be available for duty at reasonable times to undertake the professional duties assigned in accordance

with the Document.

A Teacher employed full-time must be available for work 195 days, 190 days during term time and 5 days

during school closure periods and must be available for work for 1265 hours to be allocated reasonably

throughout those days in the school year on which the teacher is required to be available for work.

Working Time - Support staff

Support Staff contracts will be based on full time equivalent of either 32.5 or 37 hours per week (pro-rata

for part time staff) and payable whole year or term time only, as appropriate to the role. Flexible working

arrangements are available example: short working hours non term time, flexible start and finish times.

Work Location

The Catering Manager base will be the Central Team offices however they will spend a large proportion of

their time visiting the various school sites. Flexible working conditions are provided example working

from home.

Probationary Period

Support staff who are newly appointed to the Multi Academy are subject to a satisfactory probationary

period of 6 months before they are confirmed in post as a Multi Academy employee. Any staff within

their probationary period are entitled to 1 month’s notice on either side.

Continuous Employment

Under employment law, various employee rights are depended on the period of continuous employment

worked such as the calculation of annual leave entitlement, sick pay and maternity pay. At the Our Lady

Of Lourdes Catholic MAC, continuous employment is continued.

Activities Outside of Normal Working Hours

Any outside employment, either paid or unpaid , must not in the view of the Multi Academy conflict with

or react detrimentally to the Multi Academy’s interests or in any way weaken public confidence in the

conduct of the Multi Academy’s business.

Core Purpose

The Catering Manager of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Multi-Academy Company, will provide visible

strategic leadership across the Multi Academy to drive outstanding catering provision at all our sites

providing a food experience our children can enjoy and staff can be proud to deliver.

The Catering Manager will fulfill Catering Management support to schools outside of our Multi Academy

via Service Level Agreements.

Duties and Responsibilities— Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic MAC

• Determine the requirements of the school and propose a catering options that has the child at that

heart and is bespoke to the school needs and in line with the Lourdes Lunches brand.

• Build strong professional relationship with School leaders and maintain communication channels to

ensure they remain informed on provision developments.

• Research catering trends and develop a marketing plan to promote Lourdes Lunches and the Catering

offer.

• Plan student engagement programmes to inspire the students and promote the food industry.

• Adhere to food and health industry regulations and standards ensuring compliance across all sites.

• Develop relationship with suppliers to ensure best quality and affordable prices.

• Embed a system to track catering expenses and maintain accurate records which can be efficiently

consolidated for the Multi Academy.

• Develop positive working relationship with the Catering teams.

• Line management of the Senior onsite Catering Staff ensuring a rigours appraisal process in undertak-

en, Provide coaching and mentoring support and promote the Multi Academy wellbeing strategy.

• Uphold the Catholic ethos and values at all times.

Job Description

Catering Manager Grade : Competitive Salary with potential additional remuneration for exceptional

performance.

Accountable to: Chief Finance and Operations Officer

Responsible for: School based Catering teams

Hours: Full time, flexible working arrangements are available. It is expected that

the post holder will work flexibly to meet the demands of the role.

Catering management support is provided via Service Level Agreements to schools outside of the Multi Academy.

Depending on the level of service brought in the following duties and responsibilities are expected:

• Provide strategic support to School leaders to enable them to get the best from the onsite catering teams.

• Provide support to School leaders as they transfer their catering provision to a ‘inhouse’ service .

• Provide training events to all catering teams to support staff development.

• Provide coaching and mentoring support to Senior onsite catering staff.

• Uphold the ethos, vision and mission of Lourdes Lunches.
