Review of learning

I really enjoyed reading your summaries last week along with your predictions about what might happen within the story.

I wonder if any of your predictions are changing as we read through the story?

Who is your favourite character and why?

In today’s reading we are going to make some more predictions, using facts from the text, along with developing our own ideas. We

are also going to evaluate how the author begins to create a sense of suspense and tension within the characters dialogue – particularly at

the end of this chapter.

After reading the chapter, complete the tasks on the final slide –write them as carefully as you can, ensuring accurate punctuation

and neat presentation.

Summarise

ClarifyAre there any words or phrases in this chapter that you don’t understand? Make a note of these and if you can’t find the definitions in the dictionary, or on the internet – make a note of them and we will talk about them in a session later this week.

Predict

For today’s activity, I would like you to think about the events in the previous chapter leading up to this chapter as well as this chapter.

What do you think has happened to Salim? Begin by write down the facts of the event (being careful to use the evidence from the book)

Then think about what could have happened – Ted and Kat watched him get onto the London Eye – but he didn’t get off – where has he gone?

What questions do you have?

Evaluate

I would also like you to evaluate the authors use of language in creating tension and suspense in this chapter. What hints at the magnitude of the situation in the characters of Ted and Kat?
