Hello everyone!

Here is the fourth Foundation Stage Home Learning activity booklet, with activities to share in whatever way fits in best for your family.

Throughout each day, try to check in with one another about how you’re feeling, and what it might be best to do next.

There are still lots of ideas on the pages of the Cayley website, so please remember to explore for activities and information there. Also on the

website, there’s a new message from Zoé to share with the children this week… and, here in the home learning booklet, there’s a slide about being ready for a special message from the class team this week – we hope your

children will feel very excited about it!

As always, please keep in touch, and let us know if you have any questions, concerns, requests or work to share.

Best wishes, keep having as much fun as you can, and keep making as many good memories as possible during this time!

Stay safe and well,

Let’s keep in touch! We hope you enjoy having a go at these activities - let us know which ones you like best!

If you need help please email: [email protected], FAO ‘Foundation Stage’.

Share what you have been doing on Twitter @CAYLEYPRIMARYSCH

Best wishes, everyone.

Please take care of your wellbeing, too!

Encourage children to make choices, and help them to follow their interests and feel successful

It’s ok if the children find something challenging – if you’re unsure about explaining, it’s ok to move on to something else – you can make a note to tell the staff,

and the children can come back to it at school later, or you can let us

know if you’d like some help

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/help-children-aged-2-to-4-to-learn-at-

home-during-coronavirus-covid-19

Take a look at this gov.uk link for hints and tips about younger

children’s home learning!

Keep things simple, and go at a gradual pace that suits you as a family;

children might spend a whole day on one or two activities…

… Find a routine that works for you and can be flexible; have fun, and

help everyone to feel happy and safe

Quality matters most! Don’t worry about quantity and speed of activities…

Activities can be ‘breaking up the day’ rather than trying to ‘fill it up’!

In the morning… and helping at home this week

Think about clothes this week… see if you can help with your clothes! Being helpful is good!

123rf/yuyuyi

get ready

Here are some activities all about clothes…

• Help to sort out your clothes ready for each day. You could do this before bedtime, or in the morning. Look at and talk about the colours and patterns, and what you would like to wear.

• Help to put clothes into the laundry basket when they need to be washed.

• Help to hang washing up to dry. You could do some ‘peggy exercises’ with the pegs, to make your fingers and thumbs strong! Can you squeeze the peg open 5 times, or even 10 times, with each hand?

• Help to put away clothes when they are dry.

• Sort out your clothes into different types. You could sort by…

• day clothes and night clothes

• clothes for cold weather and for warm weather

• different colours or patterns

• Can you check all of the socks are matched in pairs?

Page 8: RECEPTION HOME LEARNING 4: OUR WORLD W/B …...help with your clothes! Being helpful is good! 123rf/yuyuyi get ready Here are some activities all about clothes… • Help to sort

In the morning… Let’s get moving! All join in!

Play musical statues or musical bumps

this week!

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday!

Find a favourite song, and do

moves or your exercises while it

plays! And remember all about washing your

hands, today!

Page 9: RECEPTION HOME LEARNING 4: OUR WORLD W/B …...help with your clothes! Being helpful is good! 123rf/yuyuyi get ready Here are some activities all about clothes… • Help to sort

Counting

• How high can you count? Count out loud, as high as you can go! Use special voices! Remember you can use your number line or 100 square if you like, and find someone to help you to learn the next number!

• Play ‘I count, you count’ with someone in your family:

• Point to yourself and begin counting

• Point to the other person so they can continue counting

• Keep swapping!

• Count actions, exercises, things at home, or your toys

• Count backwards to blast off!

From 20, 10 or 5… to 1 and then…

Let’s have activity time… Marvellous Maths!

You can use these activities once every day…

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday!

Sing a counting song! This week, how about sharing it with someone who doesn’t live in your home? Give them a call! Can you read out their number

before calling?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/school-radio/nursery-rhymes-ten-green-bottles/zncyt39

Can you use some objects, or your fingers to act out the song? Ask someone in your family to draw a 10-frame for you. Can you use the 10-

frame to act out the song? What if… 2 or 3 bottles fell off the wall each time?

Let’s have activity time… Marvellous Maths!

Have a go at these Maths activities this week!

They help us with learning all about adding and taking away!

To help with choosing your number, you could use a number track or a 100 square.

Or you might like to use some scrap paper or a cereal box to make some numeral cards, and use your cards to find the mystery starter number

each time!

123rf/Peter Hermes Furian

Choose a starter number. How many ways of making that

number can you find…?

Let’s have activity time… Marvellous Maths!

How big is it/are they…?Why do you think it

is/they are that size?

Once you’ve opened and explored what is in the box, challenge your child to place specific numbers of things inside it, using smaller objects, and using larger objects. Can they find out if they can fit more of the smaller objects or more of the larger objects inside the box…?

I have a box… an ‘nrich’ Maths activity

• Prepare a box of secret things to share with your child – a little like a treasure box, or a ‘Maths mystery’ box!• Place inside objects which

differ in size, weight and ability to rattle!

• Seal the box• Ask your child to say what might be

in the box• Can they use their knowledge and

past experiences to make some guesses?• Could there be a bicycle in the

box…?!• Use some of the questions on this

page to talk together…

Tell me a bit more about what you think is inside the box…

How many of them are there, do you think?

Why do you think there are that many?

Let’s have activity time… Marvellous Maths!

• Find some paper/card and a pencil, pen or paint.

• Trace round your hand with your mark-maker.

• Be inspired by people who lived a very, very, very, very long time ago, and painted around their hands in caves!

• You could decorate your hand, or draw a face or a pattern.

• You could put your hand in the window to wave to everybody!

• You could post email us your picture to wave to everybody!

Family measures… all about hands!

• Find out all about everyone’s hands…

• Who has small hands? Who has large hands?

• Whose hands are the smallest? Whose hands are the largest?

• Can you stand in a line, in order of smallest to largest hands?

• Talk together about what you find out, using our words of the week!

• Which other clothes could you place in order by size?

• When you’ve finished looking, thinking and talking all about it, deliver the clothes to the correct member of your family, or the correct room at home!

123rf/yuyuyi

• How many different socks does your family have…?

• Can you sort them out, and order them from smallest to largest?

More about measuring at home…

Look up the way letters ‘move’, and our special handwriting phrases, on the Cayley website!

Home Learning/Early Years/Letters and Words

First, start by tracing the letters in the air, saying the special words…

… next, wriggle and ‘flash’ your strong fingers to get ready…

… then find your favourite pen or pencil, some paper, and have a

go!
