Initially established in 1996 under the name SIKA, the name Sinnex Innenausbau GmbH (Sinnex)was initially introduced in 2002. Ever since, these six letters have become synonymous with lux-urious interiors and an ultra high-end quality one would expect from a company combining thebest skills, craftsmen, engineers and designers Germany and Austria have to offer. Realising Dreams With a reference list that expands across projects foraircrafts, plush residences, spas, businesses and yachts,it is Sinnex’s work in the last sector that this article shall

take a closer look at. “With our many years of experience in the field of luxury yachts,

both motor and sailing yachts, along with the residential andbusiness projects Sinnex has realised, what has happened iswhen we have finished the interior for a customer in his yacht,we eventually get a request from him to do the interior of hisapartment,” said Celine Bröckl from Sales.Adeptly furnishing a collection of beautiful motor and sailing

yachts over the last two decades, perhaps the company’s mostdecorated projects are the stunning interiors onboard the sailingyacht Maltese Falcon and motor yacht Nirvana (Oceanco) as wellas Solandge (Lürssen). “The Maltese Falcon is one of the best examples to show Sinnex’s

capabilities,” acknowledged Ms Bröckl. “We are just as flexible withour designs as we are with the choice of our materials. We are

able to work a variety of materials, may it be wood or glass ormetal. Furthermore, we can handle these materials by choosing theright combination and by integrating them in the ships.”

Yachting Nirvana And implementing extremely unique materials to a smooth perfection can be seen in all its glory on the Nirvana; wallsmade of glass-embedded grass and nightstands coated with fish leather, just two examples on this 2012 88.5m built byOceanco, designed by Fremantle (Australia) based SamSorgiovanni Designs. Sinnex was responsible for the planning, production and

installation of the guest and VIP areas (totalling six cabins andbathrooms), a cinema, tender garage, lazarette, main staircaseand lobbies, as well as main salon, dining room, massage room, atrium, powder rooms and corridors. “Our expertise lies in creating, combining and implementing such

SINNEX I PROFILE

Currently employing over 130 people across its German andAustrian locations, in 2015 Sinnex underwent a complete reor-ganisation of the group’s structure. Project management for allprojects is now performed at the group’s own production facilityin Griffen, Austria. In addition to the production of parts andcomponents, the Griffen-based team is combining all engineeringactivities to manage the entire subcontractor network of Sinnex. The staff at the Sinnex site in Steinheim, Germany, will focus

on sales, marketing, coordination of installation activities, refitprojects and after sales services. The group’s subsidiary in theNetherlands will manage local installation work as usual. “The reorganisation will bundle competencies within the Sinnex

Group,” said Ms Bröckl. “Day-to-day coordination within a projectwill be eased; the number of interfaces will be reduced to a minimumand throughput times will be shortened considerably.”

Sinnex’s Four StrengthsThe success of any business is about playing your strengths.According to Sinnex, the group brings four main strengths tothe table; truly custom-made products, efficient work, f lexiblethinking and being a reliable partner.“This combination of traditional, handcrafted products and

modern technology, all manufactured in our own workshop inGriffen means we offer a truly custom-made product and service,”said Ms Bröckl. “Our ability to prefabricate many components inour own workshop, together with a f lawless supply chain usingour strong network of specialists, makes Sinnex stand out fromits competitors.”From an efficiency perspective, Sinnex has automated production

processes, tight quality controls, modern machinery and in-houseengineering capabilities. Where flexibilty is concerned, Ms

Bröckl said Sinnex personnel spend a minimal amount of timeon-board vessels thanks to the prefabrication of parts, whilsthaving various locations in the vicinity of customers enablesquick responses, with Sinnex staff also willing to travel towherever a customers’ yacht is located. This f lexibility is also evident in design styles. After all, the

task of any interior design company is aptly summarised by theSinnex slogan: ‘We realise your dreams’. “New designs proposed by the designer himself always

create an exciting new challenge to us, but having realised manydifferent interiors, it gives Sinnex the expertise to face the imple-mentation of the owner’s and the designer’s wishes whilst neverlosing focus on the practicability. No matter what kind of style itmay be, the main goal is that it appeals to the client in the end.“Even after the implementation of our interior, the customer

can rely on us,” said Ms Bröckl, moving the conversation onto thecompany’s final strength – reliability. “We have an aftersales team, which takes care of any matter after the boat has left the shipyard. We help with problems occurring on board and try to solve it onthe phone or even travel there, in order to make sure that the clientis happy with their interior. We also offer the customer refits orsmall touch-up works if he demands a change.”

Designs for an Optimistic FutureSailing ever onwards within the yacht sector, for the future, one ofthe main objectives for Sinnex is achieving overall PYC certifi-cations for the materials used by the design firm.

Introduced in 2010, the Passenger Yacht Code (PYC) is ratio-nalising the requirements and standards to be met by a pleasureyacht of any size which carries 36 or fewer passengers on inter-national voyages, particularly with respect to the IMO Safety of Life At Sea (SOLAS), International Load Line and the Standardsof Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers(STCW) conventions. To give the example of wooden floor installation on a yacht, the

floors are composed of different elements, starting with an alu-minium layer, a specially certified glue that sticks the aluminiumto the specially treated veneer, topped with vanish. All of thesecomponents are IMO certified to be non-combustible but whatSinnex is aiming to receive is a certification which is valid forthe element as a whole, not just for the single parts themselves, cutting down on red tape without any concessions made on qualityor safety. As for the group, growth ambitions are spread across its cur-

rent business sectors, as Ms Bröckl explained. “Within the aircraft field, Sinnex is currently planning to apply

for EASA Part 21 subpart G approval with the Austrian civil avia-tion authority. As a subcontractor to certified companies, we havegained extensive experience in fitting out business jets with high-gloss, solid wood finishes. Regarding the residential area, we havealready completed several interiors, however we still aim to expandour activities in the residential and spa sectors so that in the future,we have a stable and balanced core business in the yachting, aircraft, residential and spa areas.” n
