THE STORIES IN SCRIPTURE TELL US ABOUT:

THE PEOPLE WE WERE;

THE PEOPLE WE ARE;

THE PEOPLE WE CAN BE.

Catholics read Scripture contextually: We look for the ‘truth’ or ‘lesson’ We learn about the time it was written We believe it is inspired by God and

written by humans. Other Christians read Scripture

literally: They look for what it says exactly They understand it the same way

today They believe it is the exact word of

God provided to humans.

THE STORIES IN SCRIPTURE TELL US ABOUT:

THE PEOPLE WE WERE;

THE PEOPLE WE ARE;

THE PEOPLE WE CAN BE.

Find a group of 3-4 (facilitator, recorder, reporter x2);

In the group, think of as many stories from the Bible (Old or New Testament) as you can;

Write the name of the story on a sticky note;

When you have as many as you can think of, place them in order;

Prepare to share them with the class.

THE STORIES IN SCRIPTURE TELL US ABOUT:

THE PEOPLE WE WERE;

THE PEOPLE WE ARE;

THE PEOPLE WE CAN BE.

Within your group, pick three of the stories and describe what you think the story tells us about: The people of the time

(Jews, early Christians); The people we are

(Catholics, young people); The people we can be

(What God wants for us).
