Definition : A text which tells what a

person or thing is like.

Purpose : to describe person, place, or

thing.

Generic Structure :

1. Identification : Identify about the thing that you

are going to describe (Introduction)

2. Description : Detail information about the thing

with the characteristics.

Language Feature :

- Present Tense

- Adjective Phrase

EXAMPLE OF DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

I have a classmate. Her name is

Karina Aliyani, and her nick name is

Aliya. She comes from Surabaya.

She is a beautiful girl. She is tall and

has curly hair. She also has round

eyes, and the color is brown. She has

fair skin. She is very nice and has a

beautiful smile. She is very lovely,

friendly, patient, and she loves to

help people. She loves singing and

dancing too.
