I have written the rules on the next slide.ORWatch this video: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zbmv2sg/articles/zfqh92p (BBC bitesize – no adverts).

Normally, you just add –s.cat → cats

If the root word ends -ch, -sh, –x, or –o, you add –es.church → churches fox → foxes brush → brushes potato → potatoes

If the word ends with a –y, you change the y to an i and add es.baby → babies EXCEPTION: short vowel then y, just add s (e.g. toy → toys)

If the word ends in f, you change the f to a v and add es. leaf → leaves loaf → loaves roof → rooves

Some words are irregular and don’t follow the rules.child → children sheep → sheep fish → fish foot → feet

For our writing, we will be writing a fact file on your dragon.

Today, to remind ourselves what a fact file is, you will be looking at one I’vewritten about Guster (the young dragon in the story we are reading).
