BTRIS Rx Head inspection results

Recognizing the presence of boron and the related issues of reactor vessel head and bottom mounted instrumentation inspections, Brooks developed the BTRIS (Brooks Top of Reactor Head Inspection System) in early 2001 based on the revolutionary SWATS technology.

Engineered for tight spaces Brooks BTRIS was specially engineered to meet the space challenges posed by reactor head and bottom mounted instruemtation inspections. Many nuclear facilities have reported falling or “caving” insulation packages that create narrow bands of space making reactor head inspections with standard crawlers impossible. These same space limitations are noted as a major challenge for bottom mounted instrumentatino as well. Not only can BTRIS perform in-situ inspections in spaces as small as 2.5” but additionally, it can help facilities exceed ALARA objectives with <20% total inspection time at the inspection area!

Only 2.5” clearance needed to complete

inspections

Benefits of the Rolls-Royce Rx Head & BMI inspections

• Reduce overall dose with optimized remote inspections

• Fully satisfies NRC and ASME inspection requirements

• Expertly planned and double verified inspection process gives you the highest quality reactor head Inspection , with reduced FME concerns.

• Triple camera coverage produces more high quality imagery for system trending and advanced maintenance planning.

• Repeatable results with exact location feedback

Comprehensive inspections via multiple camera coverage

BTRIS has remained the premiere reactor vessel head and bottom mounted instrumentation inspection system because it offers more high quality inspection data, in larger quantities and greater detail than any other system available today. Multiple camera coverage ensures the most visual data possible of your reactor head to fully satisfy NRC Order EA-03-009 and ASME Case Code N-729-1 requirements. In addition, multiple camera coverage allows Rolls-Royce inspection personnel to carry out both reactor head and bare metal inspections simultaneously.

Mapping Software GUI reflecting exact placement of BTRIS

Repeatable results with complete path mapping & actual location feedback

Each BTRIS inspection is thoroughly planned utilizing computerized software. Both entrance and exit paths are created and adhered to throughout the inspection process with location feedback throughout the entire inspection.

Travel paths can be mapped to track location and covered areas

Manage visual data with the Rolls-Royce exclusive CIS (Component Information System)

BTRIS inspections can capture hundreds of high resolution, true color images which can be automatically up-loaded to CIS. CIS gives Rolls-Royce customers the exclusive ability to view inspection data in real time, cutting characterization and decision making time to a minimum.
