FeaturesThe BODAS-service PC software tool provides a conveni-ent and user-friendly method of executing service functionsfor BODAS controllers from Rexroth. Parameters could bedisplayed and edited, process variables displayed, and theirvalues graphically plotted and recorded. In addition, errormessages could be read out, reset as well as the application´sdiagnostic configuration configured. Furthermore, functions areavailable for reading out and writing to the controller EEPROM.

For BODAS controllers, equipped with CAN diagnosis, ex-tensive version information on the controller is displayed. Forthese controllers, in the event of an emergency, full access toall process variables and parameters is possible for a singleservice session via an "Emergency Access" (requires only theBODAS-service DEMO version).

BODAS-service also offers an option for the loading of appli-cation software, so-called HexFiles, onto BODAS controllerRC and the transfer of display configuration Files onto theBODAS Display DI3.

The respective functions are enabled by a USB hardlock (licensecontrol).

BODAS-service contains BODEM 25 and FT2.

All further instructions are provided on the screen. During theinstallation process you will be offered the choice to installBODEM25 and FT2. These earlier versions of BODAS toolsare intended for field service of controllers series MC.

Note:

System administrator rights are required in order to install theBODAS-service software on Windows 2000, XP and Vista.

UpdatesCurrent BODAS-service program updates can be found onthe Internet under www.boschrexroth.com/mobile-electronics

under the header "BODAS-Tools" or within the Rexroth mediadirectory under the search criteria "Diagnosis Tool BODAS-service". It is recommended to check for a BODAS-serviceupdate at least every 6 months!

Start-up and operationBODAS-service

After starting the program, the last configuration (automaticquery) can be loaded (note that there is start delay the firsttime the program is started due to loading of the Java env-ironment). If the last configuration is not used or if the last

configuration cannot be confirmed by the connected hardware,BODAS-service Diagnosis must first scan for connecteddevices. This can be used for automatic scanning of the serial-and CAN interface for BODAS controllers. The serial interfaces(COM ports) to be searched must be correctly configured priorto performing the scan (with the File → Interface menu item).

With the BODAS-service Flash Tool, it is possible to scan forconnected devices using the System Scan function as wellas to use the interface selection to directly flash (downloadapplication software) a BODAS controller.

The BODAS-service Diagnosis Configurator can be activatedand deactivated via the "Options" menu.

A detailed functional description of the tools can be found inthe online help. This can be accessed after starting the pro-gram by pressing the F1 key.

Safety notesThe suggested circuits do not imply any technical liability for the system on the part of Rexroth.–

Changing parameters or loading (flashing) software onto BODAS controller RC may only be performed by trained and experi-–enced specialists who are suitably familiarized with the used components as well as the complete system.

At Flashing the User is responsible that the for flashing used Software fits to the present BODAS Hardware / machine.–

When connection the controller RC with the PC, use only the BODAS-service connection cable– . The BB-3 connection cablemust not be used. Wrong connection cables or mismatched wiring can lead to destruction of the PC interface.

The controller– and the PC must be switched off when connecting or disconnecting the BODAS-service connection cable.

Work on the PC with BODAS-service in combination with a controller in a machine or vehicle may only be performed while–commissioning the machine or during service work.Appropriate safety measures against dangers caused by unexpected operational states must be provided. Make certain that nopersons are present in the danger zone of the machine.The use of BODAS-service in the series/production working condition of the machine is not permitted.

To switch off the system in emergencies, the power supply to the electronics must be disconnected with a safety switch.–

When using the BODAS-service flash function, the drive unit (e.g. diesel) must be switched off while transferring data to the–BODAS controller!

Copying, translation and distribution of Rexroth software is prohibited under copyright law.–

The general terms for the supply of goods and services of the Bosch Rexroth AG as well as the supplementary shipping terms–for BODAS software are valid.

The safety measures provided in RE 95200, RE 95201, RE 95202– and RE 95203 are to be observed.

The BODAS-service connection cable must be disposed of by the customer in a professional manner.–

A sufficiently large distance to radio systems must be maintained.–

All connectors must be unplugged from the electronics during electrical welding and painting operations.–
