Product features
Rasto is a frame formwork system which can be usedwithout a crane (manual shuttering) or shifted in large unitsby a crane. For element widths up to 90 cm it is notabsolutely necessary to have a crane on site. However, the use of the large Rasto XXL panel or thesimultaneous transfer of several panels is only possible bycrane.
Rasto formwork is a frame formwork system with ahot-dip galvanized steel frame and an integrated 14 mmthick, high-grade shuttering skin.
The maximum permitted concrete pressure is 60 kN/m² forsingle-tier and 55 kN/m² for height-extended forms.
As the panels are available in 9 different sizes, rangingfrom 30 cm to max. 240 cm, Rasto is easy to adapt to anybuilding shape.
The three element heights of 150, 270 and 300 cm make itpossible to adapt the formwork easily to different heights. The 120 cm Takko form, which has an identical design, isa useful supplementary element.
The Rasto aligning clamp as the connector joins theformwork elements to form a tight, tension-resistant andaligned joint. This applies both to the vertical and to thehorizontal butt joints on height-extended elements. Thevibration-resistant joint also permits large-area handling bycrane.

Rasto Formwork · Instructions for Assembly and Use 11
The Rasto formwork panels are connected with theRasto aligning clamp. This connector creates tension-resistant, tight and alignedjoints between formwork elements. It can be used both on vertical panel joints and onhorizontal joints on height-extended formwork.
All Rasto connectors require nothing more than acarpenter`s hammer. Instead of being used to strike theconnectors, the pointed end of the hammer is insertedinto the screw head like a spanner. This method is labour-saving, gentle to materials and quiet.
Element connection
If height-extended 3.0 m tall Rasto panels or horizontalheight-extension elements are used, the longer adjustableclamp connects the elements on the horizontal joint.
Thanks to its greater length, the adjustableclamp achieves good alignment even in thisarrangement as it is braced against thepanel’s ribs.

Tying
Rasto formwork is tied via the tie holes provided in thepanels. Before insertion of the tie rod, the plug must beremoved. Unused tie holes should be sealed with plugs.
When tying the panel joint, the tie plate (13 cm dia)of the Manto tie nut extends across sufficiently to theneighbouring panel.
If length adjustment pieces are used, tying isalways effected through the adjustment piece. For adjustment widths > 8 cm, the tie loads aredischarged via the large plate of tie nut 230.
On foundations it is often difficult to tie the formwork in thebuilding pit.The solution with the FU tightener and the punched steel taperepresents a sensible alternative. The punched steel tapesupplied in a continuous length is cut to size and laid beneaththe horizontal Rasto panel. The FU tighteners are inserted into the ribs of the horizontalRasto panels. The finger of the FU tightener is inserted into a hole of thetape and the formwork is adjusted with the threaded bolt.
The edge tie fastener MR positions the top tie above theRasto panel. This means that it is easy to fit and remove andcan be positioned independently of the hole module.
For both types of tie (steel tape and edge tie fastener MR)the maximum permitted loading is 10 kN . For 90 cm highfoundations, this means a distance between ties of 1.75 m.

Corners
The inner corner of Rasto formwork, with the patented 2°of stripping clearance, has a leg length of 30 cm. Theinbuilt corner stiffener ensures that the inner corner formsan exact right angle for concreting.
Corner stiffener
By simply disengaging the corner stiffener, the 90° anglecan be eased by 2°. It is then possible to remove the innercorner from the concrete without difficulty.
2°

The right-angled outer corner is always composed of twoRasto panels aligned and held together with outer cornerclamps. The formwork can be adapted to wall thicknesswith the available elements of 30 to 90 cm and the 5 cmadjustment piece.
The number and arrangement of outer corner clamps andof the Rasto clamps on the first joint of the outer cornerdepends on the thickness and height of the wall beingshuttered.See the table on page 19.

Length adjustment
Adjustment to the required formwork length is effected bycombining the various panel widths. Gaps in the module ofthe panel widths £ 15 cm are bridged with a lengthadjustment piece positioned between the panels. Gaps upto 15 cm are bridged with the aid of 12 cm thick timberadjustment pieces. The ties must always be insertedthrough the adjustment piece. The panels are giventension- and compression-resistant joints with theadjustable clamp.
When tying, make sure thatthe tie nut is sufficientlysupported on the edgeprofiles of adjacent Rasto panels. For adjustments greater than8 cm wide, the tie nut 230with the large bearing plateshould therefore be used.

Corners with oblique angles
With the two hinged corners 15 and 30 offered by theRasto system, it is also possible to shutter non-right-angled (oblique-angled) building corners. They differ in their leg lengths (15 or 30 cm) and in theirpossible adjustment ranges.Hinged corner 30 can only be used as an inner corner.
The formwork example shows a combination of hingedcorner 30 as the inner corner with a hinged corner 15 asthe outer corner.
Hinged corner 30
On corners greater than 90°, the MP-panels in the outerformwork make tying easier.
The connector for the hinged corner 15 is always the cen-tering tension bolt with the centering nut (3 for a shutteringheight of 3.0 m).

Column formwork with Rasto panelsColumn formwork with MP-panels
A column form made of standard Rasto formwork panelscan be simply and quickly assembled for a wide range ofdimensions with the aid of the outer corner clamp. Byarranging the panels in pairs or offset, or by using anadjustment piece at the panel overlap, the form can yield column crosssections ranging in size from20 cm to 85 cm max.
The number of corner clampsrequired depends on theform height and the widthof the Rasto panelsemployed (see table).
The MP (multi-purpose) panel with the continuous row ofholes on the tying levels are used amongst other things ascolumn formwork.Four of these MP-panels, assembled in the mannerdepicted, create a variable form for square and rectangularcolumns. It can be adjusted in a 5 cm module from 15 cmto max. 55 cm.

Bracketsand struts
The walkway bracket is simply hooked into the holes of theRasto panel ribs. The spring pins permanently attached tothe bracket prevent it from being accidentally lifted out. Thescaffold planking must be secured by means of the inte-grated wooden strip. The inserted railing posts create a1.2 m high guard rail.

If connected to a horizontal Rasto panel, the waler bolt D20has to be fitted and is also secured with the spring pin.
Waler bolt D20
The maximum permitted horizontal distance betweenwalkway brackets is 2.5 m (or 1.9 m for applications > 30 mabove the ground). It is designed for the loads of scaffoldclass 2 to DIN 4420, Part 1, edition 12/90 (150 kg/m²).

The R-adjusting strut aligns and secures single-storeyRasto formwork (up to a form height of < 3.0 m). It comeswith all the connecting pieces and is usually connected tothe edge profiles of the panel joints. The formwork isaligned with the two tension- and compression-resistantspindles.
In exceptional cases (e.g. for column formwork), it may benecessary to connect the R adjusting strut in the interior ofthe panel. By using waler 80, which is fastened with 2 walerspanners (+ 2 tension nuts) to the ribs, it is possible toconnect both the adjusting strut and the strut connector.

To provide additional support to height-extended Rastoforms and for form heights > 3.0 m, the R-strut connectorand the strut base joint permit the use of standard tubularsteel props for this application.
The holes of the connection plate of the R-strut connectorpermits the connection* of all Thyssen Hünnebeck tubularsteel props. In special cases, it is also possible to connect Alu-Top propsor BKS aligning struts. The fully assembled support is connected, as illustrated, tothe panel joint of the Rasto form.

Counter nut
An additional counter nut gives thetubular steel prop a tension- andcompression-resistant joint.
The choice of tubular steel prop depends on the load, formheight and the associated extension length. The ThyssenHünnebeck range of props covers all lengths from1.5 to 5.5 m (see loading table for tubular steel props).
Important! The maximum permitted tensile loading of the tubular steelprop is always at least 15 kN.
