Our Mission Statement The mission of the Red Hook Central School District shall be to develop in its students the knowledge, intellectual integrity, and social consciousness to prepare them to accept the obligations and opportunities found in a complex society. The District seeks to provide a challenging educational environment that fosters and rewards the values of respect, responsibility, honesty, integrity, and community service in all its members.
Red Hook High School Awarded Gold Medal in U.S. News & World Report's 2012 Ranking of the Best High Schools
Red Hook High School has been recognized in U.S. News & World Report's 2012 ranking of the best high schools in America. The high school ranks 38th out of 370 schools in New York State, and 221st out of 21,776 high schools across the nation that made the list. Red Hook High School is one of 68 high schools that received the Gold Award.
Red Hook High School Placed on the College Board's Honor Roll for Significant Gains in Advanced Placement® Access and Student Performance Red Hook is one of only 367 public school districts nationwide honored by the College Board with a place on the 2nd Annual AP® Honor Roll, for simultaneously increasing access to Advanced Placement coursework while maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP exams. “The Red Hook Central School District has achieved something very remarkable. It managed to open the doors of its AP classrooms to many more students, while also increasing the percentage of students earning high enough AP exam grades to stand out in the competitive college admission process and qualify for college credit and placement,” said Trevor Packer, the College Board's senior vice president of Advanced Placement and college readiness.
Financial Audits The annual external audits have found the district’s finances and practices to be in excellent order, as determined by sixteen consecutive clean, unqualified external audit opinions.
Moody’s High Rating Moody’s Investor Service has continued the rating on the Red Hook Central School District’s general obligation debt at Aa3. Moody’s believes that the district’s financial position has improved markedly, and reserves will be maintained at healthy levels given conservative budget management and significant operating flexibility.
Highly Experienced Business Office Staff
The strong financial position and the positive audit results that have enhanced the District's ability to pursue its educational mission in recent years are largely the result of maintaining highly qualified and experienced staff working on functions such as Payroll, Personnel, Accounts Payable, Compliance, Purchasing, Tax Collection, Insurance, Banking, and Accounting. The least experienced employee in the business office has over ten years of experience in the position held. The level of experience and expertise of these employees helps to ensure the continued operation of an efficient and effective business office that increases non tax revenues to the District, reduces costs paid by the District, and works to support the educational mission of the District into the future.
