A properly managed compost pile DOES NOT SMELL BAD!! The materials should smell like fresh earth and a bin can be really easy to care for. It only takes about 15 minutes a week. There will be no service interruption. Burrtec continues to monitor CDC guidelines in order to keep all of our employees and customers safe. Here are a few tips to help reduce potential contamination when disposing of your solid waste: Bag ALL trash prior to putting into trash container. Clean and disinfect handles and lids of barrels whenever possible. Bring in empty trash and recycling barrels as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and support. Please be safe! Barrels should have the handles facing towards your home. Barrels should be placed 1 foot apart from each other. 2020 Rialto Community Clean-Up Day ScheduleOctober 24, 2020

All Community Clean-Up days are from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.Please note that free dumping at the landfill will no longer be a part of our Community Clean-Up Day events.

Regular landfill fees will apply at all times.• Shred Fest - Protect your identity. Shred your personal documents for free. Bring your papers to Rialto City Hall, 150 S. Palm Avenue. The shredding truck

will be available from 8 am to 2 pm or until the truck is full.• Household Hazardous Waste - Our Household Hazardous Waste Site, 246 S. Willow, will accept your used motor oil and filters, paint, household cleaners,

pesticides, weed killers, batteries, syringes, fluorescent bulbs, medications and other household chemicals. We can not accept explosives, medical waste, abandoned waste, or business waste. This site is free to all residents of San Bernardino County.

• Used Tires - Rialto City residents can bring up to 9 used tires to the Public Works Office at 335 W. Rialto Ave on Community Clean-Up days free of charge. We will not accept tires from businesses, including semi-trucks.

• Electronic Waste - Bring your televisions, microwaves, computers and monitors, and other electronics to the south parking lot of City Hall to be recycled.• Usable Items - The Salvation Army will be accepting usable household items (such as clean clothing, shoes, furniture, sports equipment, etc.) at Rialto City Hall, 150 S. Palm Ave.• Free Trash Disposal - Rialto residents can now dispose of trash, bulky items, and green waste for free. Bring Furniture, Mattresses, Scrap Metal, Toilets,

We accept paint, pool chemicals, used motor oil and filters, household cleaners, fertilizers, old medications, pesticides, fluorescent lights, syringes, and batteries. We can not accept business waste, explosives, or medical waste.

We provide free containers for sharps collection, containers for used oil, and oil filter buckets. Just ask at the site.

Are you replacing an old sofa, water heater or refrigerator and don’t know what to do with it? We’ll take care of it. Residents can request up to two curbside collections of large or bulky items during a 12 month period. Limit of 10 (ten) items per collection. This program also includes electronic waste. Batteries must be taken to a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) facility where they will be disposed of properly. Throwing batteries in your trash, or recycling barrel could result in a truck fire or a fire at the materials processing facility. In California ALL batteries are considered HAZARDOUS WASTE.

Burrtec will collect and recycle Christmas trees from single-family residences. Please place your tree at curbside during a 2 week period after Christmas Day on your collection day. Trees 6’ and over need to be cut in half. Please take all ornaments, lights, and metal stands off of the tree. Flocked trees will not be recycled, they will be collected as trash. Flocked trees 6’ and over need to be cut in half.

Christmas Tree Collection

Approximately 80% of holiday trash is recyclable. All gift boxes, wrapping paper, greeting cards, and cardboard packaging are items that may be placed in the recycling barrel. Burrtec will collect excess holiday trash and recyclables beginning the day after Christmas day for a 1 week period from single-family residences. Place excess holiday trash/recyclables in bags alongside automated containers on collection day.

Scavenging is the removal of solid waste materials placed at a designated location for the purpose of collection and recycling by an authorized agent.

• For your safety, do not confront the scavenger.

• Get a description of the person and a vehicle description including license plate.

• Report the crime by contacting local Law Enforcement.

Electronic Waste (E-waste)Electronic waste may contain potentially toxic substances such as lead, copper, and other heavy metals. This is why they must be disposed of properly! Electronic waste, or E-waste, may include computers, monitors and televisions. Residents may place E-waste items out as bulky items for pickup. Please do not place E-waste in any of the barrels.
