Questions 1-5

Page 2: Questions 1 5

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge

forms and conventions of real media products?

Page 3: Questions 1 5

• This was my inspirational magazine because of the way they have made a female the main person on the cover, also the sign she is making with her fingers makes her seem more rebellious which I liked about the overall cover.

• Initially I based my music magazine on Kerrang magazine because it represents the rock and metal genre which was similar to what I wanted to represent. I have tried to not copy all of Kerrang’s features by not making the pages as random and ‘messy’ as theirs are because that, in my opinion, starts to show the metal side of the magazine. And I was still trying to keep it more rocky. I didn’t challenge many forms and conventions of many real media products I don’t think however in the Kerrang magazine cover that I mainly focused on I included a few things extra such as an online link on the front cover and the contents page, and also a tagline expressing when the magazine was about.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Page 7: Questions 1 5

• I think my music magazine is less aimed towards a social group in particular but more towards people who like rock music which I think could be anyone. However it could appeal more towards youths than adults because rock music is usually associated with youths who like making lots of noise.

What kind of media institute might distribute your media product and

why?

Page 9: Questions 1 5

• I think most major shops and even small corner shops would distribute my media product because it is a kind of magazine that anybody might want to try sometime and it has a wide range of artists on it which will appeal to a wide group of people.

Who would be your audience for your media product?

Page 11: Questions 1 5

• 16-24 year old men are more than likely the main target of my music magazine however because there is a female on the front cover of the magazine, it is likely to appeal to the female side too. Also because older bands are mentioned on the front cover it could also appeal to people over the age of 24 who used to be fans of those bands and want to read up on them.

How did you attract/address your audience?

Page 13: Questions 1 5

• In my opinion the masthead of my magazine is very eye catching because of the contradicting colours that are used. Also I think the front cover image is quite strong because it has a large image with a female staring straight out at you. Also the pose she’s in is rude therefore will attract the eye of readers and might interest them further. Also the things on the inside which are mentioned on the front cover could be interesting for the reader because they might want to know more about it.

• Also the sub-heading addresses the audience by telling a little bit more about the magazine in a short easy to read sentence.
