What is the criteria for Selection of an Institute?
The Selection criteria for an Institute depends on the following factors:
1. Students Aptitude2. Interest3. Eligibility4. Compatibility with the University Selection Criteria e.g. FAST BSCS program is open for the
students having 50% marks in F.Sc or ICS
At NUST the weightage of Entry Test for Admission to Engineering programs is 75%, therefore it is an
opportunity for those having low scores in F.Sc.
Career counseling importance in current educational scenario of Pakistan?
In Pakistan, the youth has an immense potential for their and Nations success, but they are unaware of
the relevant available Career opportunities. Every year thousands of students passing their higher
secondary qualifications (F.Sc/ A levels) find themselves faced with a challenge to select and be selected
for an appropriate professional program in a reputed university/ Medical College etc.
There is no single reputed and reliable forum for providing guidance, awareness and relevant
information to such Students.
Hindrances/ Hurdles/ Difficulties in Selection of a professional career?
First and foremost is lack of information and awareness and the rest of all hindrances emerge from this.
Secondary students, their parents and even teachers dont plan ahead proactively, they leave everything
to the course of events, while following others and ultimately they have to face the consequences.
For achieving the goal of career, one needs to have a lot of clarity of What, How, When and Where
about the choice of a career/ Program/ Discipline/ University.
Major Challenges for an Intermediate student in selection of career?
The major challenges faced by the intermediate students is lack of information at the right time. Most of
the students start planning for their Universities/ Discipline and Entry Tests after the completion of
their F.Sc Program/ Exam, while this needs to be addressed while starting for F.Sc. As many options
open during their F.Sc. Furthermore, students need to get themselves prepared for the coming
challenge of Merits and Competition beforehand so that they can target their achievement accordingly.
Goal Setting & Achievement of Goal with the help of Career counseling?
Students must be trained to set and achieve their goal, through career counseling during the course of
their Secondary and Higher Secondary studies through Career counseling.
Time wise Career Securing/ Counseling guidance (right after Matric/ Intermediate)?
The career counseling needs to be need analysis based, according to the academic class level and the
academic achievement level of the student/ students.
