Evaluation question four

My target audience I showed photos of my finished magazine cover, contents page and double page spread to people who I believed to be my target audience. I did this over Facebook because it is the social networking site that my target audience would use and because I would be able to record the answers visually.

My target audience My target audience are 16 year olds and over, this is because I am that age so found it easier to relate. This age range is more likely to be part of the indie scene and are interested in indie rock music. My audience are very likely to own some kind of ipod in order to listen to music. They are also likely to be part of some kind of social networking site, such as Facebook or twitter. They are seen to be very social and go to places with friends like skate parks, restaurants, pubs and the cinema.

Front cover My target audience are teenage boys and girls, I have made my front cover appeal to both audiences by keeping most of the colours neutral, red and black. On the front cover I have used blue and pink which appeal to both genders. I have also used a male and female model to appeal to both audiences.

Blue is stereotypically a colour aimed at boys and pink is usually aimed at girls, by using both on my cover I am able to appeal to both genders. I haven’t overly used blue or pink because I don’t want my magazine to be directed more at one gender so by using a small splash of each colour it makes my magazine cover look more interesting and helps it to appeal to both sexes.

I have used the colour red heavily throughout my magazine. I have done this because it is a neutral colour and is aimed at both genders.

Contents page On my contents page I have included stories about musicians and different artists in order to appeal to a wide range of people. I think my magazine is mainly aimed at people interested in the indie scene. The colours used on the contents page appeal to both genders.

The advert I have used on the contents page is for Kings of Leon. According to the feedback on Facebook it appeals to a lot of people because they have a large ready made fan base.

Double page spreadI have used the same models the whole way through my magazine. I have used a male and female model in order to appeal to both genders. My interview is with the male of the group and it’s all about their new album and the stresses of being an artist. I have chosen a subject that doesn’t apply to a certain age or gender, anyone can read and understand the topic.
