The social groups my magazine aims at are quite diverse. My main aim was to nurture the needs of the different types of people who are interested in different genres of music, for existing magazines Q and NME the use of multi-ethnic artists is very rare. My magazine exploits the niche market opportunity to expand the target consumer range across different ethnic background who are stereotyped/favour a certain genre of music. E.g. Black people favour Rap and R ‘n’ B whereas white people like indie/rock. The indie genre is and also coming through rap are now the new popular thrust upon mainstream music with such bands as The Kings Of Leon, The Klaxons and The Killers representing the indie genre, these are only a few of what is being continually produced and attractive to the target audience of ABC1 demographic. Frap has progressed far across to multi-ethnic appeal with artists like Skepta, Tinie Tempah and new white rapper Devlin having positive responses by the audience through the last few year makes rap become part of the norm. My magazine caters for the needs of all stereotypes and is also trying to introduce other genres to make a larger audience. As a magazine creator I understand that most magazines are ruthless in order to make sure they get a certain type of people to buy there magazine in order for the advertisements to want to pay money to advertise to the target consumer. However I feel opening up the target audience range and introducing them to new genres of music which tie in with their favoured genre gives advertisers more of an audience to aim at. Society in the UK is becoming evermore multi-cultural and is willing and favoured to mixing their existing knowledge and tastes. Why can’t magazines?

This is what I perceive as my icon target audience style. Although my magazine does appeal is some aspects has multi-gender appeal, ruthlessly my main focus is on the male audience in demographic category ABC1 who’s disposable income will be spent on something like a magazine. This young male adult represents the average of my magazine, he stereotypically represents the indie genre of music which my magazines main focus is on, however a current ‘fashion/style’ of indie following young adults is to shockingly be attracted to the grime/rap trend even though no aspect of their aesthetics represent this feature.

The smart casual aesthetic apparel is very popular with the target audience I have adopted therefore I dressed my models in their style in order to offer ideology to them making the magazine more personal to them.

For my magazine front cover I used probably the most popular clothing of the past few years, becoming more in the ‘norm’. As my model is representing a highly popular artist the fact that he is wearing similar clothes to the target audience offers instant ideology and a connection for them to the magazine, making them more inclined to buy it.

Popular actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a prime example of the type of style of my target audience, indicating a hint of possible rap/grime with the headphones mixed with indie clothing.

The vintage style is popular over the past year with the vintage tracksuit Nike Jackets taking to the indie trend hints at the introduction of rap/grime which is commonly stereotyped black people who like rap with this clothing apparel.
