1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
All my products use some forms and conventions of real media products.
For example the digipak that I created includes:
DIGIPAK:
barcode
record logos
tracklist
artists logo
artists image
catalogue number
copyright laws
MAGAZINE ADVERTISEMENT:
release date
QR code
website
Social media sites
The magazine advert also uses forms and conventions of real magazine adverts such as an image of the digipak and release date etc. Although it may be argued that the magazine advert challenges real magazine adverts because I have overlaid patterns on top of the image of the digipak.
The patterns develop a house style throughout the products and ties the poster and digipak together. Going back to the analysis of posters. The 'you me at six' poster has patterns from the digipak continuing off of the digipak and into the rest of the poster therefore I am developing from the 'you me at six' advertisement (a real media product) by overlaying patterns in order to try and create a house style.

MUSIC VIDEO:Going back to my music video analysis, I have analysed George Ezra blame it on me which was a concept/narrative video. I have similarly made a concept/narrative video and have used conventions from this. For example George Ezra's music video is about the obstacles of life which are symbolised through use of props which are thrown at him. I have shown this concept through my music video by changing scenes to where Fatima has powder thrown at her to represent a complication and the hardship she is going through. It also changes to scenes where she is walking on the field looking confused to show that she is at a crossroad in her life. Similarly George Ezra is walking as if he is on a journey searching for something new. Therefore I have used conventions from (real media products) George Ezras music video ‘blame it on me’ by using a similar concept.

MUSIC VIDEO:The music video also develops conventions of real media products. In my music video analysis of ‘price tag’ by Jessie J it discusses the elements of visual entertainment for example they had the theme of changing the scale of props. The concept of changing the scale of props not only was visually entertaining but represented the image of artist as fun and the genre as pop. I think the coloured powder concept represented the electronic genre well as it emphasises the beat through use of slow motion and reversing in the music video. In addition the concept of colours made it easy for me to use bright colours to represent the electronic genre in the poster and digipak. Therefore I have developed from forms and conventions of real media products such as Jessie J's performance video by using the concept/theme of coloured powder to portray the artists image and genre of music.Jessie J– changing the scale to reflect genre

CHALLENGING…All media products challenge forms and conventions of real media products as it is uncommon for the artist to wear aheadscarf. This shows a different representation of Muslim's than the media usually portray. In addition is quite controversial when looking at the portrayal women in the music industry which are usually conveyed as sexual objects. Overall it creates a different portrayal of women which is not usually seen within the music industry and is extremely challenging to forms and conventions of real media products.
