Leverage Existing Assets Quartier Vert leverages existing developments in the area as assets to the proposal. A significant introduction of jobs and housing in the area is balanced by a regional greenway, allowing green infrastructure to draw connection throughout the site. Enhance Connections Quartier Vert re-envisions the site’s inherent barriers as key assets for development. Active public spaces define major transition zones under the I-10 freeway and throughout the neighborhood, as landscape and urban design orient users. Minimize Displacement Quartier Vert is a home. On her break she typically stops by to pick up a prescription, some makeup and and looks around. Aſter a long and stressful week at the hospital, she plans on having dinner with her husband and their two children at one of the many restaurants at Le Bloc. Aſter dinner they plan on strolling through the underline, where it comes alive with its unique lit ‘tree’ columns and sparkling overhead string lights. Her children enjoy the playground, food trucks, talented musicians and of course the snow cones. Tonya – Pediatrician, LSU hospital TJ - Visitor TJ and his friends who are backpacking through New Orleans and have decided to stay at the hostel in Quartier Vert where they can spend a few nights for a reasonable cost. TJ rents a bike from the bikeshare at the underline and is caught by sur- prise when he realizes there is a distillery down the road before spending the aſternoon downtown. Andrew, is a new resident and is excited to start his new job at Maxxi’s Southern Comfort one of a number of eating places in the underline. He loves the fact that he doesn’t need a car within his new neighborhood. e walkable farmers market, the city Target and other amenities a few blocks away, makes it convenient for individuals such as Andrew, who don’t need a vehicle and prefer the new urbanist lifestyle. Andrew is an active individ- ual and makes the most out of the Lafitte greenway for when he goes out for his daily run. Andrew - Resident Debra - College student visiting Debra a college student on vacation with her family, where every year they take their RV and spend their break at the French Quartier RV Resort. e underline’s new food truck park is their go to place for lunch and they specifically enjoy the few old food trolleys.
