North Star Co-op Policy
To be eligible for reimbursement, ALL REQUESTS MUST BE PRE-APPROVED.
North Star offers a range of North Star-branded marketing and merchandising tools to be used at the retail level in an effort to drive sales and improve product awareness.
All sales brochures and POP materials are available free of charge with quantities to be mutually agreed upon. For North Star job site signs, 50% of the cost will be reimbursed up to a maximum of the pre-determined budget.
Merchandising – Rules & Regulations
If you are considering a unique co-op opportunity, speak with your North Star Sales Representative to confirm that the program qualifies.
North Star’s 2013 co-operative advertising program is as follows:
• Dealers who have achieved net sales of $200,000 or greater in 2012 are offered 1.25% of the value of product shipped between January 1st and December 31st, 2012, to be accrued in a co-op fund.
• Dealers who have achieved net sales of between $175,000 and $199,999 in 2012 are offered $1,000, to be accrued in a co-op fund.
Requirements for reimbursement of co-op funds are as follows:
• All initiatives funded by co-op support must be executed prior to December 15th, 2013 or the co-op funds will be forfeited.
• Reimbursement will be made in the form of a credit memo on future purchases.
• Reimbursement does not cover production or design costs.
• Must be pre-approved by North Star.
Advertising – Rules & Regulations

FOR
North Star has prepared a broad range of media support – including radio, print and television advertising materials – which we will provide to our dealers at no cost. These materials are available in the Dealer Access area of the North Star website.
RULES & REGULATIONS – RADIO, TV & PRINT
• Advertising is to be exclusive to North Star… no competing brands of any product are permitted (including siding, doors, sunrooms, etc.).
• All advertisements must be pre-approved by North Star (layout and/or script approval).
• North Star logo can be no smaller than 50% of dealer logo in any advertisement.
• North Star mentions in advertising must be at least equal to references to dealer name.
• North Star will pay 50% of the placement costs for the advertising up to a maximum of the pre-determined budget.
• All product claims made must be supported in North Star’s own advertising.
• Both the invoice and a copy of the corresponding advertisement must be submitted together to North Star within 30 days of placement (tear sheets for print and co-op invoices or affidavits for broadcast are required for reimbursement).
• Funds will not be made available for website-related production and maintenance expenses.
RULES & REGULATIONS – YELLOW PAGES
• For dealer-developed Yellow Pages advertising, North Star will pay up to 25% of the advertisement, up to a maximum of the pre-determined budget.
• If North Star creative templates are used, 50% of the yellow page ad will be reimbursed, up to a maximum of the pre-determined budget.
• No other logos other than the dealer’s logo are permitted.
• No competing brands of any products are permitted (including siding, doors, sunrooms, etc.).
Radio Advertising
The 2013 radio campaign includes five radio spots promoting the key benefits of North Star windows and our commitment to “green” products and manufacturing processes. The radio advertising campaign allows you to gain greater exposure for your business by customizing the ads with your own dealer tagline and information.50%

“ENJOY THE NORTH STAR VIEW” - 60 SECOND
This ad explains North Star’s commitment to making quality products and preserving the environment. Investing in North Star windows and doors means investing in a greener future. And the greatest benefit for customers is that North Star products are low-maintenance – once they’re installed, customers can get on with enjoying life inside their home and outside, too.
“QUALITY THAT’S AN AIR-TIGHT INVESTMENT” - 30 SECOND
This ad outlines North Star’s commitment to high-quality products that save energy and money. North Star windows and doors are a great investment. All products are energy efficient, so they save money as they increase the value of a home.
“A GREENER FUTURE” - 30 SECOND
This ad highlights North Star’s ongoing commitment to the environment. North Star’s products and processes are “green.” And because of this commitment, customers can take comfort in knowing that by investing in North Star windows and doors they’re investing in a greener future.
“NEW PRODUCTS – SIMULATED DIVIDED LITE GRILLES & FOLD-DOWN HANDLES” - 30 SECOND
This ad highlights two new products offered by North Star: Simulated Divided Lite Grilles and Fold-Down Handles. SDL grilles are applied to the interior and exterior surfaces of the insulated glass for a more traditional profile, while Fold-down Handles – available for casement and awning windows – lie flatter than regular crank handles so that blinds close completely and neatly over them.
