Administering the C.I. Deployment Instrument April 18th, 2008

What are we doing? o The CRCSD is measuring progress of the District’s guiding philosophy of “Continuous

Improvement.” (District Balanced Scorecard Measure: Increase % of staff implementing practices of the 4 Quality Levels- as measured by the Deployment Instrument).

How will we do it? o A Zoomerang survey will be used (the online survey will take 10-15 minutes). o The hyperlink will be posted on the Continuous Improvement Web site. This link will take

participants to a web site with further instructions. http://quality.cr.k12.ia.us/ The morning of April 18th, Quality Liaisons will receive an email confirmation that the link has been posted.

o Your building will designate a time period and direct staff to the hyper link. o Using the survey, teachers will indicate their progress of implementing the 4 Quality

Levels in their classroom. (*Note- It is important that teachers respond accurately. Results will not be used for evaluation purposes, but to signify where further support is needed).

Who will take the survey? o This year’s focus is to gather information on the classroom implementation of continuous

improvement. o Teaching staff will select the survey that best pertains to their job. The options are:

o Elementary School o Middle School o High School o Elementary Specials Teachers o District Counselor o District Media Specialist – Library program

How will the results be shared? o The District will share summary information with all schools. Data will be used by

the school to plan staff development and other support to schools. o The BLT will receive the school summary and share it with staff. Data will be used

to identify strengths/areas for improvement. o The school improvement plan may be updated to include strategies to increase

deployment of the 4 Quality Levels at the school.

Key speaking points:Accuracy of reporting progressNon-evaluative, not individualizedProcess to see “where are we?”When completing the self-assessment,

ask “is this a regular part of my “is this a regular part of my classroom system?” (if teachers have classroom system?” (if teachers have trouble defining it, it is likely they are trouble defining it, it is likely they are not implementing it)not implementing it)

What clarification is still needed?
