Customer operates in about 27 countries across three continents. Every region has a different ERP system with a different database for its operations. Aspire’s team effectively created an extraction system from different databases to populate the Qlikview database with the required data.

Migrating existing Qlikview installation from 8.5 to 9.0 customers was taken up by Aspire. Aspire’s team worked as a Qlikview consultant and identified the benefits that Qlikview 9.0 can provide the customer. The value proposition was that,

Qlikview 9.0 had better collaboration facilities in thin clients. Granular sharing makes it easier for the customers to share documents only with particular list of users or user groups.

Better performance and scalability with the removal of the 2 billion record limit in a table limiting the amount of data that can be handled in Qlikview only to the RAM availability. With the ever growing database of the customer, Aspire’s team felt there is a need for such scalability and hence proposed Qlikview 9.0 upgrade to the customer.

Mobile Clients including iPhone and Blackberry phones and other JAVA enabled mobile phones have support now with Qlikview 9.0 which helps the customers top management make instant decisions while on the move.

Jobs were created to do the activity on a regular basis thus ensuring less or no human intervention. Aspire’ support team takes care of the scheduling and monitoring of these jobs.

Integrated reporting features allowed the customer to use Qlikview Publisher to setup automated report mailing tasks

Integrated Qlikview Management Console built around AJAX technology enabled the applica-tions to be run in any browser without reliance on IIS.With increasing number of the users who started accessing the applications through mobile and handheld devices, Aspire suggested that migration would bring in capabilities for mobility and platform independency

Dynamic data update helps real time data update using new API’s without using scripts.Performance for the customer only got better by avoiding scripts.

Aspire also has a dedicated 50 member team working for this customer on their IT application and infrastructure needs. As part of their activities, this team also monitors Qlikview's database jobs 24*7. Any data refresh jon failures and identified and resolved immediately.

At present, Aspire’s team is working with the customer to setup a cluster for the existing servers. Though the cluster would primarily be used for load balancing, the team has suggested plans for high availability for mitigating potential risks of unplanned downtime taking into account the different geographical entities which operate in various time zones.

Aspire’s team of Qlikview experts proposed migration of Qlikview installation from 9.0 to 10.0 given its better enterprise manageability features like centralized user access management, auditing; faster performance owing to separate threads for loading data; openness for data exchange with extensible data formats; better interpretation elated data using mekko charts etc.

Aspire's team of experts are also helping the customer's North American operations to migrate from the existing Business Intelligence installation to Qlikview 10.0.
