INTRODUCTION TO FLOWCHART

A flowchart is a type of diagram that represents an algorithm, workflow or process, showing the steps as boxes of various kinds, and their order by connecting them with arrows.

TYPES OF FLOWCHART

MACRO LEVEL FLOWCHART - A graphical representation of the overall logic of a computerprogram in which entire segments or subroutines of the program are represented by single blocks and no attempt is made to specify the detailed operation of the program.MINI LEVEL FLOCHART –It is a flowchart that provides information between the that provided by the macro level flowchart and micro level flowchart.MICRO LEVEL FLOWCHART –It provides a very detailed picture of a specific portion of process by documenting every action and decision. It is commonly used to chart how a particular task is performed.

1. RESERVATION - Upto 50% seats are reserved for SC/ST and OBC .This reduces the number of seats for general category , hence there is a lot of competition for a limited number of seats. Some students belonging to these categories score very less marks in entrance exam but still get a seat in the college, but a student getting much more than that student does not get seat in that college as he belongs to general catrgory. SAD!!

2. LONG COUNSELLING PROCEDURE – Once the student’s name appears in the merit list, he has to attend the counselling in which the student has to pay the fees and important documents. But this procedure at times takes a whole day and hence, is tiring.

3. CAMPUS PLACEMENT PROCEDURE - A regular company pays less than 6 lakhs and dream company pays more than 6 lakhs. If a student gets a job in a dream company then he cannot apply in another dream company if the other is paying more than the 1st one but he can apply in regular company. Even though the students deserves the job paying more still he does not get it as he already got a job.

PROBLEMS

We learnt how a flowchart can be used to male our work easier.• Communication: It provides an easy way of communication because any other person besides the programmer can understand the way they are represented.• Effective Analysis : With the help of flowchart, problem can be analysed in more effective way.• It provides an overview of the system and also demonstrates the relationship between various steps.• It checks the accuracy in logic flow.• It indicates very clearly just what is being done, where as a program has logical complexities. • It provides the way of modification of running program.
