How did you attract/ address your audience ?

By Paloma Robinson

• We attracted our audience by using different elements in our film.

• For example the beautiful surroundings and nature in our film, possibly attracts not someone who is looking to watch a romance genre film , but a nature loving person who is in admiration of the beautiful scenery.

• Another way we have attracted the audience , is the typical storyline.

• The boy falls in love with the girl at first sight and instantly falls in love with her .

• This often happens in real life and so people can relate to it – and feel intrigued to find out more about the characters and how the story ends.

Page 4: Q5 AS Media studies

• I’d also hope to attract the female audience , as it is for all the women out there who aspire to fall in love and live a happy life together with the man they love……

Also attracting and addressing teenage girls as an audience ……

• Teenage girls , are at the age when they might have there first proper boyfriend and fall in love and fall out of love , and may think they love someone when they actually don’t .With the male role in our film showing his confusion with love between the two girls in the film , teenage girls can relate to this. He represents also that teenage boys can also be confused about relationships/love etc…

• (With the added bonus of the attractive male actor-as teenage girls love to look at something handsome)

• Our film ‘Crush’ would also go on to show the guy with the adventurous girl , simply going on a bit of an adventure.

• Anyone aspiring to travel (particularly people such as gap students ) would no doubt show interest in the last quarter of the film as it shows all the adventures to different countries they go on.

There are a number of different ways you could advertise your film to appeal to your

target audience ……………….

• Viral marketing – i.e. use of the internet to promote the film is a good way of addressing the younger age group. Having an advert of ‘Crush’ on YouTube, would get passed round on social networking sites such as facebook amongst friends ,(Probably similar target audiences)where the film could be then well known.

• The film I predict would be popular with viewers, and has the potential of being a successful film-hence why spending budget would not be a massive issue .

• Advertising the film on TV channels such as Sky premiere is a successful way to reach the target audience , as people are desperate to see new films all the time.

• Having the advert for ‘Crush’ on a channel like channel 4 would be a great way to try and reach different target audiences – as channel four have lots of different types of viewers .

• In the cinema ,having the advert for Crush before a film start’s. Using the same genre (Romance ), as the one which will play .

• A promising way to hit the target audience would the Crush advert to be the before ad for movies such as ‘One Day’, or ‘Something Borrowed’ , as this is the target audience we want to hit. Also people who enjoy those films will enjoy our film , as it involves some complications with love as Crush does.
