The Five Keys of Power In this module’s practices, you get to work with power and to learn how to
make it go into an upward spiral.
In the first practice, you will explore and work with your boundaries. Setting a
good boundary is not only important for power and empowerment, but also for
reversing the cultural history that tells women to say yes to others and no to
themselves.
In the second practice, you will activate your pleasure as a source of power.
In the third practice, you will find power in your body, experience the fighting
nature of your body and explore your capacity to defend yourself.
In the fourth practice, you will use grounding as a power tool.
And lastly, in the fifth practice, you will explore your truth, since one of the ways
we tremendously disempower ourselves is to not see all that is great and utterly
amazing about ourselves.
Grounding practices
Being grounded is a tremendous source of power!
And being grounded is literally, on the most foundational level, about having
presence and awareness in the lower parts of your body. So it means having
awareness of your feet, legs, pelvis and lower belly.
And it’s also about feeling present here and now. There is a heaviness to it and a
kind of density that you can feel in people who are grounded.
Being grounded helps you take practical steps to get what you want and make
things happen. No matter how much potential or talent a person has, this has
to be grounded to become real power, in order for that person to really get or
create what they want.
Being grounded helps you slow down and realize you can take things step by
step, and there is great power in knowing what the next step is and knowing
how to take it. Part of the way of you get there is by slowing down, being in your
body and having that kind of directional ability.
The three grounding practices in this module come from the Taoist tradition
and from Mantak Chia, which say that you can build up all this amazing energy,
but if you don’t ground it, it just goes out and heats up the room. Instead, you
want to bring that energy into to your body and have it:
• Feed your cells, bones and blood
• Light you up from the inside out
• Make you feel substantial and present, moment to moment
Another aspect of grounding practices you should know about is that when
people do energy activation practices - for example, working with kundalini
energy or doing jade egg practices - when you or your clients start to activate
energy, if there is a lot of unprocessed stuff in the unconscious, it can keep you
awake at night. There will be a buzzing, like a high, and there can be a whole
lot of energy in your head that makes it hard to sleep.
Sometimes there is really nothing you can do, and in these situations, try to put
yourself in a resting trance state by breathing slowly and staying connected to
your felt sense all through the body.
But oftentimes, with all this energy running around your system, what you need
is to ground, to be able to go to sleep and to sleep well. And this will also help
relieve the feeling of, “I’m buzzing, I’m high.” Do the grounding practices about
an hour before bedtime to really drop into the body.
You find the three grounding practices in practice four this week and they are:
• Grounded hip and pelvis exercise
• Kidney foot massage
• Bone breathing
Power process
For each of the five days, after you have done a specialized practice, you will
end the practice with the power process. This will support you to empower
yourself in the most rapid and efficient way possible - but it will also inspire you
to think about what it takes to step out and have a career and business.
You will focus on:
• Feeling powerful - and allowing yourself to be loved, to have safety and to
belong
• Being radiant - and allowing yourself to be loved, to have safety and to belong
• To be seen - and allowing yourself to be loved, to have safety and to belong
Many of us act small because we are terrified that if we were to be as powerful,
radiant or be fully seen as we are capable of being, we would lose one or all of
these qualities. It’s really empowering to feel in your body as a lived reality that
you can have both experiences at the same time.
Body empowerment process
You will do this process to be really present in your body, and especially in the
lower part of the body. Being present in the lower part of the body, in your
pussy, womb and lower belly, changes the way you experience yourself and the
way others perceive you.
In this process, you work on feeling yourself from these parts of your body and
feeling present inside them. You will nurture this quality of being at home and
present in the lower parts of the body. That’s very important!
And you will also do self-pleasuring with an empowering statement, because
when you mix affirmations with pleasure, there is a kind alchemy that happens
inside the body and makes the transformation more powerful.
Storing energy
This is a classical Taoist process of storing energy. There are two different ways
to store energy.
1. Drink it into the cells
This is a more advanced process for people who have stabilised energy and
generally are coming from a clear and empowered place. When you already
have a body that is balanced and integrated, this is definitely possible.
2. Store it in the Tan tien
When you want to create stability and you don’t want energy buzzing around,
store the energy the in the Tan tien, right below the belly button in your center
of gravity (so, in the center of your body below the belly button). This will create
a grounding experience for you.
In the Taoist tradition, you store the energy right below the belly button if you
want to be grounded in a material way. If you want to have success and use
your energy for physical things, like being healthy, making money, building a
career, raising children, etc., then store it here.
If you want to store energy for your spiritual purposes, like spiritual awakening
or activation, then instead store it right in the belly button area.
In women, you store the energy by going counter-clockwise. Go up on the left
and down on the right and feel the energy collecting and pulling in, and collect
it in the Tan tien. And then go clockwise and you feel it store itself in a ball.
For men, the directions are the opposite in the Taoist tradition - so a clockwise
motion collects the energy and a counter-clockwise motion will store it.
This also focuses your energy so that what you are creating and cultivating in
these processes gives you personal power in your life.
Therefore, it’s a beautiful way to end your practices, symbolizing to your primal
brain: we are using all of this energy to nourish our lives, to say yes to our
desires, to build what we came here to build within our lifetime.
