Test Equipment and Services

Airtel ATN’s test equipment and services are the de-facto industry standard for testing and validating ATN implementations. Airtel ATN’s Test equipment is used by EUROCONTROL’s Link 2000+ Test Facility.

Airborne Data Link System Emulation Tool (Manual or Automatic)

The Air Manual Data Link System Emulation Tool (AMT) provides a GUI for sending/receiving CM/CPDLC primitives. The Air Automatic Data Link System Emulation Tool (AAT) implements script based automatic responses to uplink messages from an ATC centre. These tools support the testing of:■ Context Management■ CPDLC Connectivity Management■ Full EUROCAE ED-110B CPDLC message set■ Error test cases■ Recording of messages and events

Multiple Airborne Data Link System Emulator (GVS)

The GVS provides a script based interface to send/receive ATN and FANS CM/CPDLC messages. It emulates up to 1,000 aircraft.

Mini VDR

Airtel’s Test equipment and services can be used in conjunction with its Mini-VDRs to provide a full simulation of ATC communications including the VDL air/ground links.

Test Services

on-site and remote testing using Airtel ATNs Test Facility in Dublin.

The ATN Air/Ground Data Link System (AGDLS) is responsible for handling Data Link communications for an ATC centre. It supports applications such as CM, CPDLC, ADS-C and FIS.

■ Front End Processor (FEP): The FEP handles message formatting and communications with aircraft while the data link services are implemented in the FDPS.

■ Data Link Server (DLS): The DLS incorporates all the DL-FEP functionality and also implements ATC communications services, simplifying the implementation in the FDPS.

The logical components of a Data Link Server are:

Data Link Service Functions (DLSF)

The DLSF components implement the Data Link Services procedures including ATC Communications Management

Check (AMC). The DLSF sends and receives messages to and from aircraft via the DLC-FE.

Data Link Communications Front End (DCL-FE)

Controller Working Position and the data link equipped aircraft. The DLC-FE’s main function is to implement the Data Link Initiation Capability function. It maps Flight ID and ICAO 24-bit addresses to ATN or FANS addresses and and sends/receives fully encoded messages to and from aircraft.

ATN Communications Stack

The ATN Communications Stack interfaces with an ATN Access (Ground/Ground) Router which interconnects the AGDLS with the Data Link Service Provider Network.

FANS Support

The FANS Accommodation Mapper handles the translation between ATN and FANS messages, while the FANS Communication Stack provides an interface to the ACARS.
