The countdown is on for ISTEP and we continue to talk with your students about

ORDER. Over the next week, Mr. Koomler and I will be visiting the classrooms to

do a “test talk.” This is an opportunity for us to talk with your students about theimportance of doing their best, as well as giving them some tips on how ORDER

plays a part in test taking. Thanks for your support in preparing our students for

ISTEP.

I have been spending a large amount of time talking with students about

appropriate and inappropriate comments that we are hearing due to Facebook,

texting, and other social media. Parents, you have heard it before and you will

hear it again … what your students are putting on social media is a reflection of

what they are seeing/doing at home. If you haven’t looked at their social media

pages or texts lately, you might want to take a look. Make sure that you log in to

their account. I recently had a student tell me that they told their mother that

they had deleted the account. It simply was not true. We aren’t trying to play the“gotcha game,” but rather we are concerned about Cyber Safety . If you are using

social media appropriately, so will they. Thanks for your support in protecting our

children.

The social health presentations were made this week to our 5th

 and 6th

  graders.

Hopefully, you are able to have some healthy discussions about these

presentations with your students. If you need additional resources or have

questions or comments, please feel free to give me a call.

Have a great weekend. Linda Willen, Counselor

6th Grade PUMAS and families, we have an EXCELLENT opportunity tohear the middle school band, choir, and orchestra perform in their springconcert. This is a terrific opportunity for our 6th graders to seewhat options they will have for next year. All 7th grade students will betaking either a full year of band, choir, orchestra or  a semester each oftechnology and industrial technical education. If you are thinking aboutyour child being in orchestra, choir, or band next year, this would be a greatchance to get a taste of what this is all about. I encourage you to attendthis event as you think about class choices next year. The great news also

is that money, or lack of money, should not keep you or your student frombeing involved in any of these classes. Our teachers love to work with ourstudents and with you. Studies have indicated that students who areinvolved in MUSIC classes are typically more successful students in middleschool and high school. Music classes have tremendous benefits. I hopeyou will take advantage of this great opportunity.

 is a collaborative series of

workshops with Warren families

and staff  in grades Kindergarten

through 6th grade. Each PAC

session offers dinner at no charge

and activities for students during

the presentation. The purpose of

these workshops is to share

information on topics such as

report cards, homework tips,

school safety, student behavior,

and the special needs of kids. Each

year, parents will be surveyed for

possible presentation topics. It is

our goal through the PAC

Workshops that parents make

connections with not only the

school, but also other parents.

• 6:00pm • Students whose parents attend

may participate in dinner and

activities, supervised by members

of the WC Student Council.
