Puerto Rico finds itself in one of the most critical moments in its history from an economic and social standpoint; which is why an urgent change in our business and government paradigm is required in terms of our entrepreneurial development and in how the Island interacts with regional and global economies. With this on mind, the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce created an event that would become a legacy for Puerto Rico after nine years and with more determination that ever we now present our sixth country conference. In 2015, we present the Puerto Rico Conference 2015 “Investing on Emerging Sectors” to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and the systematic transformation of the Island’s economy, aimed at building a vibrant economy that is more interconnected globally, less dependent and more sustainable. BACÓAlberto Bacó Bagué is an attorney, CPA, and entrepreneur, with over 30 years of experience. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor Degree in BA from the University of

Puerto Rico in 1979 and a Juris Doctor in 1984. He obtained his CPA license in 1981 and became an attorney in 1985.

He began his career in 1979, holding several positions with law firms, international accounting firms, and government agencies. In 1989, he was appointed Executive VP of the Government Development Bank of Puerto Rico, before assuming the role of President of the Economic Development Bank between 1990 and 1993. After resuming public service, he established his own independent practice, providing advisory services in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, restructuring and government affairs. From 1998 to 2011, he worked as President and Chief Executive Officer of Marvel International and Bohio International.

In 2013, Bacó Bagué become part of the economic team of Governor Alejandro García Padilla, as Secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce.

Dr. Martin A. Regalia is senior vice president for economic and tax policy and chief economist at the United States Chamber

of Commerce. In conjunction with Chamber members, he is responsible for developing Chamber policy on tax and economic issues. He also oversees the Chamber’s Council on Small Business and the Corporate Leadership Advisory Council. Regalia appears on national television news and debate programs, testifies before congressional committees, authors articles and publications on a variety of economic topics, and speaks to many groups across the country.

CRESPOLucy Crespo is the Chief Executive Officer of the Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust. The Trust mission is to advance the research and innovation ecosystem in Puerto Rico. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the

FirstBank Corp. She retired as General Manager of Hewlett-Packard Puerto Rico for the Enterprise Business in 2013. Her tenure at HP lasted for 31 year, successfully working in the HP Computing and Printing and Personal Systems business units.

Lucy is an executive with ample experience in the technology industry and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus and completed Executive Development education at the Kellogg’s Graduate School of Management of Northwestern University. She is a member of the Alpha Pi Mu, the Industrial Engineering Honor Society.

Lucy is a former president of the Puerto Rico Industrial Association (PRMA), and a recipient of the Hector Jimenez Juarbe award. PROUTYNicholas Prouty is the founder and CEO of Putnam Bridge, a firm engaged in the acquisition and management of distressed landmark properties in the United States and abroad. Mr. Prouty has been a real estate principal in several companies, including a General

Within the last years, Mr. Prouty’s firm has been active in Puerto Rico and has made two significant nine figure investments. Those investments include the acquisition of Ciudadela, a mixed use real estate development in Santurce and Puerto del Rey, the largest marina in the Caribbean.

Mr. Prouty formerly headed acquisitions and restructuring for a $1+ billion hedge fund focused on asset based lending and real estate finance. Prior experience also includes serving as Managing Partner to a prominent family office, and as treasury analyst at Lazard Freres & Co. Mr. Prouty is the founder of the Habitat Support Foundation, a non-profit entity based in Washington, D.C. engaged in providing non-recourse loan guarantees to Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Prouty received a Bachelor’s of Arts in European History from the Claremont Colleges in Claremont, California. He is married, has two children and lives in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

LUTTERMr. Elmar Lutter is the Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico, responsible of building up the company specializing in aircraft overhaul.

He has over 25 years working for the aerospace industry in Lufhtansa, excelling in various positions, including CEO at Lufthansa Technik Budapest, Vice President of Aircraft Overhaul, in Lufthansa Technik Philippines, Manager of Workshops Cabin Electronics and Rescue & Safety, in Lufthansa Technik Frankfurt, Team Leader of Avionics, Production Support & Planning in Lufthansa Technik Hamburg, and Aircraft Systems Engineer in Lufthansa Technik Frankfurt.

He holds a master degree in Aviation from Danube University Krems, in Austria, and hold degrees in Electrical Engineering and Marketing from different universities in Germany.

NAZARIOVicente Nazario is the Director and Site Leader for Honeywell Aerospace Puerto Rico. HAPR provides support to manufacturing operations in North America and to Honeywell customers worldwide.

Vicente has a multi-disciplined background, with over 20 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Project Management, Quality Assurance and Operations Management within the electronics, medical devices and aerospace industries.

Vicente graduated from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics, and also holds a General Science degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico in Ponce.

John Delametter is the president and general manager of Infotech Aerospace Services Puerto Rico (IASPR), an engineering and business process services company delivering services to United Technologies Corporation business units as well as other leading companies in the Aerospace and Defense sectors. John is responsible for leading IASPR’s

DELAMETTERorganization with a focus on delivering market-differentiating customer value, leading continuous improvement, and sustainable business growth.

John joined Pratt and Whitney in 1983, and since then, has held positions of increasing responsibility in Engineering and General Management. Leadership roles have included technical lead for hypersonic scramjet propulsion systems, advanced technology afterburners, Component Integrated Product Team manager for F-22 Turbine Exhaust Case and Afterburner, and Deputy Director of Engineering for the Combustor, Augmentor and Nozzle Module Center.

In 2006 John accepted a position with IASPR as the Chief of Operations and New Business Development where he set the stage for expansion of IASPR into the US Aerospace, Defense and Industrials sectors. In 2008 John was named General Manager of Axon Puerto Rico (APR) an SAP Start-Up Joint Venture between Pratt and Whitney and Axon Global. In 2012 John returned to IASPR as President and General Manager of the corporation, responsible for more than 600 employees delivering engineering and business solutions to UTC and other Aerospace Defense and Industrials companies.

John holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.

RODRÍGUEZLuz M. Rodriguez has held leadership positions in both the private and public sectors, focusing on innovation, technology and business strategy. She is currently the Site Manager for Lockheed Martin Puerto Rico, where she is responsible for leading the IT

technology strategy and managing overall IT operations and customer service.

Her initiatives include improving service delivery through embracing effective and efficient use of technology and leading strategic initiatives to transform the technology department to be flexible, adaptable and responsive to customer needs. Manuel Cidre was also founder and former president of the Alliance for Puerto Rico’s Development, former president of the PR Manufacturing Association (PRMA), and past chairman of the Board of Directors for the “Small Business Development Center”. He is a current member of the Board of Trustees of the Catholic University of Puerto Rico, Director of the Community Foundation of PR, a member of the group of mentors from the University of Puerto Rico and Vice President of Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce . Cidre is also a great collaborator of the American Red Cross , “La Procuraduría de la Mujer”, “Iniciativa Comunitaria”, among other organizations. SÁNCHEZVíctor Sánchez is currently the President and CEO of Pharma-Bio Sev, Inc. and has served as the President of the European Operations of the Company, since January 2011. His background experience includes Operations Director and

Manager in the LOCM and OSD divisions of Merck Sharp & Dohme in Spain, Quality Control Validations Manager for Schering-Plough Products, LLC, in Puerto Rico, and Quality Control Laboratory Supervisor. Víctor holds a BS in Chemistry and a MBA in Industrial Management from the Interamerican University of PR. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Validation Technology from the Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland.

José González Freyre, President of Pan American Grain, was born in Puerto Rico. He began his business in 1977. From thereon, he has built four mills in Puerto Rico, including the largest rice processing plant in the western hemisphere.

In 2006, he launches the successful alcoholic beverages known as “Gasolina”. In 2007, Mr. González opened a coffee roaster business and acquires Ochoa Fertilizer. He has been a manufacturer for Coca Cola and Welch’s and has become the only Puerto Rican to own a US Flag Bulk Cargo Vessel.

With a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, José M. Izquierdo Encarnación specializes in concrete structures in the preservation of historical heritage of Buildings and Transportation. Currently, he is Principal of the Engineering services company, PORTICUS CSP. From

1994-1996, he served as President of the College of Engineers and Surveyors of Puerto Rico. For the past 25 years he has worked in the international field of engineering, becoming president of the American Concrete Institute International from 2003 to 2004.

In the public sphere, Izquierdo was Secretary of State and Secretary of Transportation and Public Works. He has been President of the Board of nine Public Corporations. He has written many papers and spoken extensively on structural engineering in the US, Central and South America, Turkey, Poland and Puerto Rico. Currently, he is President and Chairman of the Board of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce.

His professional practice includes partnership and corporate income taxes, industrial tax incentives, sales and use taxes, excise, property and municipal license taxes, and other local taxes and corporate matters. He served as Technical Advisor to the Secretary of the Department of Treasury of Puerto Rico, providing advice on legislation and regulations matters, and participated in the drafting of the 2011 Puerto Rico Internal Revenue Code. He also participated in legislation, regulations and implementation initiatives, such as “IVU Loto”, Real Property Stimulus Act, Special Property Tax and Voluntary Compliance Program.

Attorney & CPA Morales Lebrón has been a speaker and instructor for many business and professional organizations, and he currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Puerto Rico Society of Certified Public Accountants and member of the Tax Affairs, Tax Reformulation and Legislation Committees.

CPA Kermit Lucena Zabala is the president of the Puerto Rico Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is currently the main partner and founder of the CPA firm, Lucena & Raíces PSC.

Kermit presided the Puerto Rico State Board of Accounting and was a member of NASBA’s Revisory Board of International Agreements and of NASBA’s Global Initiatives Committee. He also presided the Quality Control Commission of the Inter-American Accounting Association.

Prior to Advent-Morro, Mr. Meduña was founder of Meduña & Co., Inc., a local broker/dealer specialized in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. He started his career at the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York and then lead the formation and headed Chase’s Investment Bank in Puerto Rico.

Mr. Meduña is Honorary Consul for the Republic of Chile in Puerto Rico. Has served on several non for profit organization including as Board member and Treasure for 6 years of Centro Sol Isolina Ferre in Ponce. Specially, under two of the largest financial institutions and active Preferred Lenders of SBA: BPPR and FirstBank. Emerging as a banker in BPPR on 2001, he served as Commercial Officer and as Manager of the Origination & Sales Unit. At FirstBank, he served as Second Vice President and Chief of Government Affairs in the Guaranteed Loans, and Business Development Unit, responsible of converting the Institution into a Preferred Lender. Among some of his achievements, he was responsible for the portfolio growth of almost 10 times the original size and guaranty payment ratio near 95%.

Cancel Planas was recognized with the Advocate Award by SBA. He also pioneered in Puerto Rico by executing the first 504 Debt Financing Loan and the Floor Plan Financing. He holds the first SBA technician certification by the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders granted in Puerto Rico.

Álvarez was born in Havana, Cuba in 1958; graduated from Georgetown University, Magna Cum Laude, 1980; Harvard Law School J.D., Cum Laude, 1983; and admitted to the Bar in Florida and Puerto Rico in 1983.

RODRÍGUEZDenisse Rodríguez is currently Program Manager at Foundation for Puerto Rico (FPR), where she works on various initiatives that aim to insert Puerto Rico into the global economy, including the development of a vibrant Visitor Economy and the development of the microfinance platform Kiva in Puerto Rico. Denisse was

recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Global Shaper, a global network of young leaders committed to improving their communities. Prior to joining the nonprofit sector, she was Deputy Fiscal Agent and Advisor to various Presidents of the Government Development Bank for Puerto Rico (GDB) where she designed and executed the mission of the Fiscal Agency Division. During her time at GDB, she was named Executive Director of the José M. Berrocal Institute for Economics and Finance, a subsidiary of the GDB whose key purpose is to develop young talent to work for the public sector. Prior to joining the GDB, Denisse worked at Goldman Sachs’ Investment Banking Division in New York City, where she financed and advised not-for-profit healthcare institutions at the beginning of what is now known as the Great Recession. Denisse obtained a B.A. degree in Finance and Marketing with honors from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. Denisse is passionate about breaking the glass ceiling, financial inclusion and mentoring younger people.

FERNÓSMr. Manuel J. Fernós, Esq. has been the President of the Inter American University of Puerto Rico since 1999. Prior to this, he was the Chancellor of the Metropolitan Campus, Dean of Studies and Dean of the School of Law.

He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Society and Educators and Scholars, Former President of the Association of Colleges and Private Universities in Puerto Rico, President of the Hispanic Educational Telecommunications Systems, Vice President and Former Treasurer of ARed Latinoamericana@ of Private Universities, and Member of the Administrative Council of the International Association of Universities with headquarters in France.

He is working with the internalization of the academic offerings by establishing consortiums and collaborative agreements with other institutions and in the implementation of distant education.

He was awarded by The Complutense University of Madrid with the Honorary Membership of the Comparative Law Institute and The Salvation Army gave him the Others Award for his leadership in education and community involvement.

CRESPOMrs. Crespo is the CEO of the Cardiovascular Center for Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Has a Bachelor Degree and internship in Nutrition and Dietetics with specialty training

in diabetes and obesity management. Since completing her Master Degree in health services administration, she has conducted evaluation projects on the Government Health Plan, health literacy research in diabetes and hypertension, consulting for primary care organizations, and served as hospital administrator. Currently serves on the boards of the Puerto Rico Hospital Association, the Puerto Rico Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Puerto Rico Medical Tourism Corporation.

BONETFrancisco G. Bonet received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and International Relations, as well as a Master’s Degree in International Business. He has also take courses specializing in Asian commerce from the University of Communications of

Beijing in China. He has over ten years of experience in both the public and private sector. Previous titles include Director of Operations and Specialized Markets at the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, Programs and Strategic Alliances Director at the Puerto Rico Trade Company and International Commerce Specialist in the same agency.

Mr. Bonet has worked with the development of medical tourism in Puerto Rico from the public and private sectors for the past years. As executive director of the Puerto Rico Medical Tourism Corporation is now developing the structure to convert Puerto Rico into the top medical tourism destination for US citizens and Caribbean patients.
